)I have been awaiting its arrival with baited breath, watching for the post every day and twitching at the sound of the door bell, so naturally it arrived when I was out!

Yes, that 18 inch WW2 by Bura (blem, though the only problem I can find is a slightly loose butt plate and a slightly loose scabbard). To say the least I am impressed, the blade is fairly huge, but amazingly light all things considered. It will take me a week or two to get used to the size (sooooo much bigger than my BAS and they don't call me stumpy for nothing) but its a VERY nice knife.

All I can say is WOW! Oh, that and thanks to Uncle Bill and especially to Yangdu for doing such a good job whilst UB was away (incidentally, after reading through what I got of the Reno Gazzett I have come to the conclusion that local rags are the same the world over ;) )

The 18" WW2's aren't bad if you aren't a 5'4" shrimp like me.

Stopped on the rez the other day to buy a pair of Tepee Creepers ( moccasins made from lamb with the wool left on the inside - and then lightly soled for use as warm slippers round the house for my wife ), and told one of the indians ( former Justice of the Peace til the County abolished his position ) that I missed getting the tribal weekly so I could laugh at Tribal political shennanigans. ( Course I quickly followed with the statement they got to read the Hawthorne paper and see the Mineral county politicians pull the same kind of stunts. )

As one dead politician once said, " All politics is local politics! "

5'7" isn't short! At least that's what I tell myself, being the same height. It's not all bad though; have you ever seen a 6'5" guy try to fit in a compact car? It can be amusing at times. :D

I know what you mean. At 5'9", a buck and a half, the Miata fits like a glove. (and I wouldn't have it any other way.)

Stmm- Congrats on the new K. Let us know how it does.

Brian

Being 5'7" does have its advantages, for one thing I think I have to be one of about 5 people on the planet who can get military uniforms that fit (for those of you who don't know, MOD kit has 2 sizes, too small and too large, too small fits me perfectly ;) ). Actually, I am still looking for the reason its a blem, like I said the butt cap was a little loose but apparently there is a hair like crack in the handle, I think this is going to call for a microscope. On the other hand, the butt cap was useful, I mean once I had fixed it the kukri was sort of, well, mine! When I compare it to the BAS its actually rather strange, I mean they feel like they are for totally different jobs (probably because they are). Actually the WW2 cuts through wood far better than the BAS, though the latter is far quicker. I will hopefully be going out into the sticks on monday so I will be able to put it through its paces.
