On this day, in 1836 Texas declared it's independence from Mexico.

To this day, Texas remains the only state in the Union to ever kick another country's azz!!!

In the immortal words of David Crockett... "You can all go to hell... I'm going to Texas."

Ain't freedom grand...

GOD BLESS TEXAS!

You must wonder... If it wasn't for the Alamo would Jim Bowie have been immortalized in our history? If not, then what about the bowie knife? Might the bowie knife itself have slipped away with the sands of time... and if so... would there have ever been a battle mistress??? Scary thought...

NOW LET'S DRINK!!!

God Bless all Texicans. You had your own country once but allowed others to crowd in on a good deal and muddy the water. Since then you're just one of US.

:triumphant::triumphant:Whoo Hoo!!!! I love my state!

Texas has done well.... but I can't BELIEVE that the Ruskies are still beating us! That really ticks me off... Watch your back, Putin!

Still... if Texas was still it's own country it would be the #14 ranked economy in the world.

Also interesting, is that the entire world population could fit in Texas if each person were alloted the same average square feet of living space as in New York City. But please don't take that as an invitation... ;) :D

Most folks don't realize what Texas was when it whipped Mexico. The Compromise of 1850 set Texas's boundaries at their present form. Texas ceded its claims to land which later became half of present day New Mexico, a third of Colorado, and small portions of Kansas, Oklahoma, and Wyoming to the federal government, in return for the assumption of $10 million of the old republic's debt which comprised mostly of delinquent bar tabs and Busse Custom Shop orders (yeah... I made up that last part...). This may have been the first time the federal government royally screwed the great State of Texas, but certainly not the last.

'Cause God blessed Texas with His own hand
Brought down angels from the promised land
Gave 'em a place where they could dance
If you wanna see heaven brother here's your chance
I've been sent to spread the message
God blessed Texas

I love that song =)

Davy Crockett: “You may all go to hell and I will go to Texas”.

God Bless Texas !!!!
