I picked up this Warren a couple weeks ago. It's not right. The whole thing seems awkward and clumsy to use. I can't imagine using it in this manner for anything other than spliting kindling, and even then there's better choices. The current haft is obviously not the original.

Question is, what is the correct size haft for this head. It weighs right around 3 lbs. I was thinking about putting it on a @20" haft and using it for light trimming. Suggestions?

Around 3 lbs. huh. Id put it on a boys axe handle myself, it's to heavy to be on anything shorter than 26" IMO.

If it's a 3 lb. head then the eye is likely sized for full size single bit axe handles. I'd put at least a 30" handle on it.

Nice axe, BTW.

I have a Collins Legitimus 3.5 lb Dayton on a 20" miners handle. I keep her near the fire pit at camp. It's great for splitting up sticks and making kindling for the fire. I guess one could use it for trimming, but that's about all it's good for with that short handle on her. I got her that way and the handle is tight to the head, so I use her that way.

The 3# Dayton pattern TT Kelly Perfect I just got was on a 35" fawns foot which looked to be original. I'm likely going to replace it with something in the 28-32" size. My 3.5# mexican is on a 32" curved as well

Weird lookin on that drilling hammer haft. Although that wouldn't be a bad choice for a 1# hatchet.

28" would be good; I'll have to look those up. It's clumsy as heck right now. Dangerous.

If it's 3 pounds with that handle on, then the head is probably closer to 2.5 pounds. Which would make it a boy's axe. It certainly looks like a boy's axe. If that's the case, I would use a 28" boy's axe handle.
