Our own Bobby Branton (AKA Knifeslinger ...from the Knife Throwing Forum & American Tomahawk Co.) dropped me an E-mail the other day. He said, “I would like to get you to work up a logo for my company "Branton Knives" I saw the one you did for yourself and would like something that will identify my name and knives when you see the Logo. I'd like something that will look good on hats Tee Shirts , letterheads etc. Something easy on the eyes not real dark.” Well, since Adobe PhotoShop is my favorite video game, I said “Sure!”

First I went to Bobby’s website to see what he had now.

Then I looked at his banner and it has some interesting elements to it, but for a Logo I needed something a lot simpler.

I got lucky, I hit on a design that he seemed to like right away with just some minor changes. Here are two versions of the same Logo, one flat and one with a little depth to it.

But, I still felt the need to play some more so I went back to his original elements to do another illustration of who Bobby is and what he does. I don’t know if he’ll be able to use it for anything, but it was fun to do and I’m kind of proud of it.

Take a look and tell me what you think?

Great job Phil, as usual. Hey, you may actually get the hang of this stuff one day.

Phil, excellent as usual.
The only complaint I have is that my photo is not in there somewhere.
I SUPPOSE I understand, but still... it hurts.

As usual, great work Phil. I think Bobby will like them.

Most excellent PhilL!
Both designs are clear, concise & easy to read. Afterall, they should have read it before they know they read it & should remember it without reading it again

You have hit that on the head with the blue version! I like the 'all out' color version too. If I was gunna pick a nit (a teenyweenie nit at that) you might want to put a small starburst on the bottom near the anvil edge or the bottom right corner. Just to balance it out a bit

BTW,
Question:
How many Art Directors does it take to screw in a lightbulb?
Answer:
Does it have to be a lightbulb?

You do nice work,

I want to thank everyone for the nice comments here about my work, especially Ebbtide, it's good to hear a professionals opinion. I'm not a pro, I'm just learning at this point. I've only had Adobe PhotoShop for about two weeks now.

I've done work for Bobby before that he uses on his website now. He had a new knife design, and sent me the drawings and I did my best to render them in 3D.

I've also been known to fool around a bit with pics and Vampire Gerbil has done a whole page on his website of pics I've done of him and Lorena.

WARNING Before you take a look you need to know, these pics are kind of sick!

Brett, I'd love to do websites, and I have had requests to do some. The simple fact is I don't have the skills, writing HTML and all the other good stuff you need to know. In fact I needed Vampire Gerbil to write the code to link my Logo to my PhotoPoint Albums. When Bobby asked how he could use one of these Logo's as a link I told him to see VG.

I think for the time being I'll stick with working on individual images.

Phil,
That's GREAT!! You have the hollow grinds looking REALLY perfect!!! I've tried to do that with different cad and drawing programs with little success. I can appreciate your efforts!!! I can MAKE a knife easier than I can draw one on the FRIGGIN' computer

NICE!!!!!

Thanks Neil, do you want to know the funny part? When I did those knives for Bobby I didn't even have PhotoShop just Adobe PhotoDeluxe which is just the kiddie version of PhotoShop. I'm just waiting for some maker to send me their drawings and let me flesh it out for them.

Geeze PhilL, 2 whole weeks?
eek.gif

I hope those were 60 hour weeks or I'll feel bad!
I bet you kow a little airbrush though...
My fav photoshop pastime is trying different handle 'materials' on a makers knife. I like Jerry hossom's Texican with white micarta
smile.gif

Damascus can be fun with the texture filters along with some distortion .
Also try adding a tiny bit of 'noise' (under filters) it takes out that perfect airbrush look, gets it a little closer to a pixelated jpeg...
Enjoy!
Wally

Hey Wally, I don't know if you can see it or not but I did use a little noise on the bullseye. It looked too painted without it so I know what you're saying.

I'm in the city a couple of days a week, we should do lunch sometime.
