It's official. There is one more khukuri in Colorado today than there was yesterday. I picked it up from the local post office, brought it home and tore open the infamous triangle package like a kid at Christmas (note: I did not lose any fingers in the process - I counted before and after, and I still have ten.)
Uncle Bill, I must compliment Bura on a fine job. I haven't gotten a chance to field test it yet, but the workmanship on my Chiruwa Ang Khola is wonderful. I'm proud to have his cresent moon mark on the blade. It's almost too pretty to use (but, believe me, I am going to put it to the test on my next trip to the mountains).
The khuk measures in at a little over 18 whopping inches from tip to buttcap. It's nearly 1/2 inch thick (probably 7/16 to be exact)and 2 & 3/8" wide at the sweet spot. I don't have a scale, but I bet it's 2.5+ lbs. Looks like one mother of a chopper.
It is officially the largest knife I own.
(but it won't be my last khukuri for sure.....I think I'm hooked.)
Take care, all.....and thanks again to Uncle Bill and Bura for bringing me a fantastic knife.
