Well this is driving me nuts.... Apparently since the recent software upgrade it is no longer possible to title a thread in all caps. Since STR is initials *str* should be in all caps, but the software keeps converting it to Str. LAG3 appealed to me but I can't make it work either. I've been trying this and that and the other thing ... I guess I'll leave it at *str* -- that's better than Str, anyway.

No doubt it was well-intentioned, but it's going to be a nuisance just like the autocensor used to be and the ten-character rule is. It's another instance of depriving everyone of the freedom to do something because a few people abuse it. :(

There's another feature that breaks really long words down by inserting a space after so-and-so many letters:

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

I would have thunk it's an anti-auto-spam feature, since goodness knows how many spam mails *I* get that have a subject in ALL CAPS!!!! (and lots of exclamation points).

It doesn't help against the spam, it merely turns an all caps title into a regular one.

By the way, Cougar, what the hell does fursluginer mean?

It means I read a lot of Mad Magazine when I was a kid. Come to think of it, there's a German edition, isn't there? I wonder how they translate fursluginer ... probably they don't; it sounds German enough already.... :D

I can't remember which program restricted me to only capitalizing the first letter, but I beat it by spacing between letters and then editing it to remove the spaces. Yeah, tedious. It's a recent idiot usage, like writing NATO as Nato, that I first saw in British newspapers.

Yeah, it's an auto-correction feature to PREVENT SHOUTING OR AS I LIKE TO CALL IT VOICE IMMODULATION DISORDER. MANY PEOPLE CAN'T TELL when I am talking in a normal tone of voice.

I love Will Ferrel
