You only have a month or so below zero and 2 weeks when it's -20 or so. 90% will never make it long enough to see 0F. So you're worried about nothing. The show is OVER with by Dec 27, so it starts on Sept 18th. here's the temp chart for great slave lake. Note that it's still pretty mild all the way thru October. and not that bad thru november. You should be holed up by December, The clear side of my tarp lean to lets me 'aim" the projected heat of a Siberian fire lay at it, and the radiant heat passes thru the PEVA's two layers, warming me as much as 50F degrees. For any shelter, I can put 4 of the head-sized hot rocks in pits under the bed, lined with ashes, covered with same and add 20F degrees of warmth for 4 hours. Bury the coals and some charcoal in the ashes and the fire will remain "alive" for 12 hours, so the rocks can be re-heated in half an hour. But you're ignorant of all of those facts. That's why you dont dare even apply for the show. I've applied for every season since the first. and I will continue do so so. In fact, I want a 200 day, 20 man season, with 20 sq miles to roam in. 2 million $ prize, $10,000 entry fee, and if nobody makes it to 200 days, History pays out NOTHING. The 200k from the entry fees is enough to buy the insurance policy that will pay out the 2 million, since it's so unlikely that anyone can last that long. So there's zero risk for the producers.
