Alright I had to clean the shop today. It couldn't be avoided. I'm a little mad at one of my customers now too.
It all started with a customer requesting a knife with a purpleheart handle. Had to go buy a peice, while I was at woodcraft I stumbled on a nice lookin peice of paduak, and a great peice of cocobolo. So I'm already mad at the guy cause I ended up buying $50 worth of wood that I didn't really need thanks to him
So tonight I rough ground 3 handles. One paduak, one purpleheart, and one cocobolo. I finished it all up and was admiring the grain they all had, thinking about which one to glue up first and all that.
Then I looked down at the workbench........

FRIGGIN PINK PURPLE AND ORANGE DUST ALL OVER!

IT LOOKS LIKE SOME TOFU FARTIN FAIRY EXPLODED! (no offense IG :p )

Had to clean it up. If anyone saw it they might think I was gonna go plant flowers around the door or something. Maybe repaint the walls with some bright colors, and stick up an airfreshener or two :barf:

Anyhow. Now that thats cleaned up, I gotta go recover by listenin to titties an beer and cleaning a few guns :D

You are lucky I wasn't there I would of drank all your beer and when leaving I would of farted and with all that dust in your shop it would of blow up.
I clean me shop every few years whether it needs it or not. HEHEHE!!! :D ;)

You'll get more enjoyment out of the experience if you "look" at the titties, and "drink" the beer. Listening to them never did me much good. ;)

I hit the cove too :D , but even though I'm not a drinker I still like that song, its just a catchy tune. You'll catch yourself singin at the most inappropriate times :D

Ha! As if you'd need dust to blow up a shop :p

Okay, so "titties and beer" must be a song - sounds like a country song to me... Whatever happened to cleaning up the shop listening to the Grateful Dead? Or Pink Floyd? :D

I know what you mean about buying supplies you don't "need" immediately. :D I had to order some 3/16" 416 SS, so I ended up with $150 worth of pin stock and Micarta. Lucky for me I met the UPS guy in the street and was able to sneak the box into the basement before my wife caught on. Now I'm gonna go down there and ogle the stuff like a miser. ;) "Supplies" are as much an addiction as making knives is! (There's something screwy with the tense of that sentence...drives me crazy that I can't quickly fix it. Dang!)

At least I know I can go sweep out my own shop successfully. "Good" idea!

Jerry Garcia might put me to sleep while cleaning up. Pink Floyd, a little dreamy.
Give me M&M, he kind of puts me in that slightly pissed off cranked up mood, just right for cleaning. I had better get a few cd's out. The multi colored mass on the shop floor is edging up towards my boot tops.

Yep, I don't know who all sings it. Rodney Carrington has it on a few of his CD's . He's a comedian (damn funny!) Its not a song you'd hear on the radio, but I like it :) "Naked women and beer" by Hank Jr. is another good one. What can I say, I'm a redneck :D
Grateful Dead  Pink Floyd  Here's a song for you....
He's an old hippy
An he don't know what to do
Should he hang on to the old
Should he grab on to the new
He's an old hippy
This new life is just a bust
He aint tryin to change nobody
He just tryin real hard to adjust :p

Good tune Matt. I like a little horse and hat. I think music in the shop helps keep the work moving. You don't notice what your walking in so much either.
yee-hawww Fred

I'm an old Zeppelin fan. Its my default when I cant figure out what to listen to. I'll have to admit that while I was cleaning the shop today I was listening to Rage Against the Machine. Fitting for me these days, wot?

:)

Rage against the machine? Is that like when I throw stuff at my bandsaw? :D

Nah, they're alright. I got some friends who are into those longhaired rooster lookin bands. Some of em are pretty good once in awhile. They can't compare the the 3 hanks, or willie, waylon, merle an the gang, but I can't put you down too much for listenin to them :D
