Hi Guys, This Saturday at 7:00pm I'm going to have my Mountain Biking class over for a little party. Will be cooking up a Roast Beef with all the trimming (Onions, Carrots and Potatoes). a couple of the girls will be bringing Roles and Jello, and Trent is bringing the tossed green Salad.

FWI I live in Ephraim (Central) UT.

You all are invited, it's going to be goood. Not to mention, there will be some great looking girls there.;):D If there is anyone that thinks they might be able to make it, just email and I can get you directions.;)

P.S.
I'll also be doing this again in a month or two, and you all will be invited then too.

UNBELIEVEABLE !! INCREDIBLE !! FANTASTIC !!

Is this gonna be one of your famous Dutch Oven fiestas ??

I must sadly and regretably offer an RSVP of no-can-do, my SoCal Saturday is already spoken for from 8am to 4pm.

But the spousal unit just assured me she will fire up our own Weber this Saturday for a left coast beef-fest !!

Cheers and Drools,

Carl

Much as I'd love to (and I would!), I will be unable to make the 3,000 mile journey...:(
With all the procrastinating I've done through the winter (wait honey until the nice weather gets here... )... the nice weather is now here... trees need trimming the yard needs clearing (ice storms), etc....
Have a couple for me...
Rob;)

wildmanh, I think what you are cooking is really "Pot Roast". Usually when you put the potatoes, onions, and carrots in with the roast (with or without a little liquid) and put the lid on, it's pot roast.

Roast beef is usually a cut of beef roasted in the oven without a lid (dry heat method) which makes for a great opportunity to make "Yorkshire Pudding".

We have pot roast about twice a month on Sunday afternoon. We roast a sirloin of beef about twice a year. Great stuff.

You're in Ephriam. I'm from Logan. My son is in St. George at Dixie till the weekend, then back up to USU.

PS: Try a package of onion soup mix on top of your pot roast! ...and what kind of knife do you use to pare your beef?

Bruce, thanks for the info. Roast Beast sounds better though;) Logan is a nice place, so is St. George.(used to live in Ceder City).

The onion soup mix sounds interesting, might have to try it some time. Normally I slice up a large (4 to 5" diam) onion and cover the roast with it. Do you recomend wet or dry soup mix and what brand? Am thinking of carving the roast with my SOG Government and new HI Sirupati.

Wildmanh,

My real excuse is that I'm getting together with some pals to plan out a June church weekend.

My whiny excuse is that after the team meeting I gotta go over to a $1mil house near the ocean and make sure the hot tub water isn't too hot, make sure the pool water isn't too cold, and that the margarita temperature is just right !!
-- And I'm bringin' along a couple of big SOG's to make sure the lobster stays in the pot and the fresh salmon doesn't jump off the grill !!

Cheers,

Carl

p.s. what happened to that HI thingie ?? you chopping wood and bend it !!??!! that's some mighty soft steel.... you might want to give a holler at the heat treater....

That HI thingy is a Khukuri (Sirupati style) and it's supposed to be bent. Don't let the pic fool you, it's 20.5 Inches long, really sharp and the temper is just right for this kind of knife.

Sounds like you will be having a good time. Enjoy the food and pool, you lucky duck.:p

Here is a pic of some of us that will be at the party:

Well guys, the party was great. I picked up a 5 pound roast, cooked it up with lots of Onions, potatoes and carrots. There were 7 great looking girls and 3 guys there.

Carl, I ended up using my SOG Government to carve the roast, but that was almost not nessisary. The Roast was sooooo tender it fell apart.:D

I did get pics so I'll post em after I get em developed. Hope everyone had a great weekend.

Glad to hear it went well, the Government doesn't sound like it was challenged...;)
Post pics!:D

Wildmanh,

if the roast had given the Gov't a tough time, well, the roast wouldn't have been very good eatin's !!

Cheers,

Carl
