When we lived in Bozeman Hot Springs, just outside of Bozeman, we had a service station with the old timey glass topped pumps that you pumped the gas up to with a lever along with a 3 or 4 car garage for service and a few cabins for rent. This was in 1947. Mom had the sh*t scared out of her one day when a couple of Real Cowboys came riding up with their six guns and saddle carbines. All they wanted was an ice cold soda to quench their thirst.:D Not the picture of a 7 year old boy's view of Real Cowboys. I figured they would want a shot of whisky rather than a cold drink.

Anyway it snowed there on May 17th that year, it was my old man's birthday. I loved it there, even then I didn't like to be around a lot of people, our nearest neighbor's were a 1/2 mile away.;)

Munk, stay warm up there. A storm is moving in and there is a chance that it will also snow at my mom's place this week.

... We had some snow over here yesterday too - but then northern Bavaria is as far north as Chicago...

That sounds heavenly from where i'm sitting. Its 35-39 deg C in the day and extremely humid.
I could do with some snow! :(
Yaj.

From your picture, Yaj, I'd assumed you were used to heat and humidity.

Pen, I cut wood in the side yard with the boys. It's a family activity, though I do the cutting. My older two help bring in the wood.
We sit out there, watching the birds or chipmunks go by, and eventually someone says, "Hey, why don't we cut some wood?" So I decide whether it's a Bura Movie Model afternoon or time for the Baby Ganga Ram or whatever lucky khuk gets selected to shine.

You know how small boys are, and men too? "Hey, look at the chip- that was a good cut." Every khuk evaluated afresh, every swing, time of cutting, depth of progress.....

It's still snowing.

I put a cardboard box over my wife's roses to protect them. The rose bush I planted last year to thank her for getting me the Bura Movie Model.

And guess who told him to plant it? ;) ;) ;)

Come to think of it, maybe that one was one that he gave her before?

It's 645 AM and snowing. Today I have to drive a hundred miles in slush, ice and snow to get my oldest son checked out for asthma. I don't want to screw around with this. He's been short of breath too often recently and we need to get him to a Doc.

Since the Noble Ramcharger seized we've been without 2 4X4's, and my wife needs to go to work today. I'd take the little car but one of the seat belts doesn't work and that would not be safe to transport my kids in. So now she has to drive through all this crap in it.

Please wish us all Safety this day.

It was Rusty who told me to plant a Rose Bush instead of just buying Roses.
The little bush is safe, Rusty. I can't wait. Tomorow I'll take the box off. She'll be fine. The other poor plants around here though- I feel sorry for. They'd just started their spring bloom. There's a whole lot of fruit trees that will have no fruit this season.

As a sufferer of asthma in my formative years my parents and grandparents used to keep a bath towel in the kitchen. If I had trouble breathing they would boil an electric kettle on the floor with the lid off so it would not switch off. I would then have the large towel draped over my head and around the kettle to form a steam tent. It always helped me and I eventually 'grew out' of the attacks. I hope its not asthma though.

Test it yourself first to make sure it doesn't get too hot under there, my grandfather used to come under it with me and took the weight of the towel.

Munk I realize it's too soon up there for Mullien to be growing
up there,
^ but burning it and letting it smolder while breathing the smoke off of it is an old timey relief for asthma. I put some on the red hot rocks at the beginning of every Sweat. It does help the people in the Lodge breath easier, 'specially those with asthma.:)

What plant is that, Yvsa?

This is a good website showing both the early leafy rosette and the later flower stalk. Also talks about the plant's medicinal uses.:)

Edit:
All you ever wanted to know about mullein, Google search. I keep forgetting that mullein is one of those weird words where the e comes before i. ;)

Thanks Josh, I was worried. If the temps stayed cold the ice would be bad- like the kind California gets with the wet snow.

I followed my wife five miles out of town to make sure she'd do OK.

Sometimes in the truck the Boys and I talk. Not much else to do. It's fun.

We have an inhaler now. My son has been suffering from this for a long time without any one knowing.

The road back was just about dry, though still with snow flurries and unsettled weather.
