Some of you saw one of these in an earlier thread. I was asked to make one "exactly like it" at Blade last year. I thought the pair looked really good together so here's a look at them. They are desk knives with an oriental feel to them. One is going on to her new life in California high society and the other is going to remain a country girl here in Fairbanks with a local collector.

It's very hard for me to make knives exactly alike, the natural materials make it hard and my desire to make the next one even better is always pulling at me to deviate from the plan. I'm afraid I didn't make them exactly alike but I like the second one better than the first, and don't think I will be faulted too much for the difference.

They are 6 3/4 inches overall with blades 3 inches long. They are made of ebony, Asiatic goat horn, 15N20 and 1095.

I hope you like them, thanks for looking.

Hey there, Mark - Bob has gotten the message, and as he (I) was typing this post, also got the pm. It's a beauty. When I saw that first post of the Fairbanks knife, I thought "OOO, sure hope it looks like that!" And it sure does! Just a beauty!

Best,

Bob

pretty little things...

They are a thing of beauty. Simple yet complex.

Outstanding!

I am sorry that my comment came out as a pointed message, I ment it more as a possible subject of discussion on the forum. I'm glad you are pleased, I had a great time making it. It will be in the mail in the morning.

Mark, everything we do on here is for fun and information. I just happened to be right at my computer, signing on to Bladeforums, when you must have first posted the message - and seeing it, well, it got me rightfully excited! I think Coop got it very right when he said "Simple yet complex". Can't wait to hold it.

Best,

Bob
