It's too early in the afternoon to be depressed...

I just sold my YCS.

I had taken it to the show on the weekend as a "Demo: Not For Sale".

I let everybody (that wanted) to have a swing with it and pound a 2x4 to bits.

One guy expressed a very strong and persuasive($$$) desire for me to sell it to him. He made me an offer I could no longer refuse.

He just left 15 minutes ago with my YCS in hand.

Hard times make for sobering decisions.

Not sure what I'm gonna do now...

I hear your pain.
But,That is the way to sell a khuk.
It sells itself.
YCS is not my favorite, but it is a beauty;
especially after you've put your own touch, sweat, & blood into it.

Got blades to hand-rub while you veg out in from of TV?

Tough times.

I'm going to our big gun & knife show this weekend.
Hoping I can find something nice to buy or trade in the blade area.

btw---you have email <<=====================================

I'm amazed at all the happy kids who have nothing and somehow travel around the world with a backpack, two t-shirts and a pair of jeans. I envy it, but I'm too scared to try it right now.

Just like every human on earth, you'll adapt, you'll survive and then you'll thrive a bit later again, maybe in a way that you never expected. :)

All the same, I hope you are out of the sticky spot soon.

and try to keep in mind that material possessions, by their very nature, are temporary at best. And that is one of the roots of suffering, or so said the Buddha. If you can, use this time to reflect on what you do have. Savor every meal. Try to remember when a hug from a loved one was all the comfort you needed. Don't ask for hugs, give hugs. Take time to watch the wind blow in the leaves. Take a walk. Play with a dog. And remember, steel that is never subjected to fire and water will never hold an edge. I appologize if this just sounds like a bunch of Polyanna BS. I have faced hardships in my life and these are some of the things that have helped me keep moving my limbs when The Black Wave threatened to drown me once and for all. Smoke and prayers for you and yours. Keep heart, my Brother.

Silver Fox Knows. :p

Seriously, it's good advice. The YCS was a great khuk, but life and the wonders it brings are even greater. :)

I just came in from hammering on some concrete in our garage floor.
Been telling my wife for two years,
"i'm going to fix that crack when.....".
Now's time to do.
Anyhow.
Working at something and focusing on it can
be a very relaxing meditation.
Although depressed is not the time to do anything
with hazard attached.

Go dig a hole and focus on doing it to the best of your ability.

It's the worry or other negative thinking that wears you down,
been there, done that.
Again & again & again.
Proper meds help if it gets too bad.
Sometimes it takes a kick in the pants.
Do good.
Sometimes that's a meditation too.

I'm hoping to avoid things like this myself, layoff should be mid Nov to early Dec. Just remember, you and your family are healthy and together.

Thanks for the well-wishes all...

The joblessness doesn't hurt anywhere near as much as giving away the YCS did today.

I just couldn't help myself. The guy was begging me for it. And I figured I could use the spare $$.

Maybe (if Yvsa forgives me) after a few $$ start rolling my way, I might be able to hit him up for one of his...or who knows...what are the chances it'll be made again?

That certainly was my favorite and the sting has not left...

I had fully convexed both the kardas, polished/finished all the handles, etc., etc.

Ok...ok...gotta stop thinking about it...:(

Dan there's nothing to forgive, after all it's only a bit of metal and some wood.:)
And sorry to say all I've got left that I will get rid of is a plain one, but if you want it then it will be yours. You can make your own kardas for it and the awl.
Even inlay the handle of the kukri.:D

That will then indeed make it "yours.":D

Cheer up Dan !!

Uncle always said the khuks find their right owners !!

When I am rich I will buy you another one !!

;)

Bruise...I thought you were on the dark side...

Yvsa - thanks for the offer. There's nothing quite like a well-made YCS...it's just magic. And I had put some serious hours into that one. My time will come again, I'm sure.

Dan, I have read a lot of good advice here. I've had to look for work too. It is no fun when things start looking like nil. Remember though that you have a bunch of people on your side. Try to keep busy doing something. Prayers and wishes still being sent your way. God Bless!:)
