Okay, well partly. :) Actually I should be saying thank you to the members that hang here in the traditional section.
Let us look back many years. I think I was somewhere between 7 and 9 when my Dad gave me my first folder. It was a small powder horn/toothpick style slipjoint. Was it a nice knife? Not really. Did I like it? I absolutely loved it. So I've carried a knife my whole life and had many given to me when I was a kid by my Grandfather. They also weren't that great of quality. While it taught me how to use a knife responsibly it also put into my head that slipjoints were junk. When I got old enough to afford my own knives I started buying locking knives that were one hand openers. Even though I was older and knew better, in my head slippies had a stigma to them. I just couldn't get over it because I had too many of those old pocket knives just fall apart from constant carry and use.
But after spending so much time on these forums I finally broke down and ordered a Case Peanut a few months ago. I've been carrying it daily and now have 4 peanuts, 1 small toothpick and today my medium Jack showed up. After carrying the peanut I decided to get something similar but a little larger.
I'm very pleased with my recent purchases. I'll still carry my Spyderco/Benchmade/CRK but along with those will always be a Case traditional folder.
Even if I also have a SAK on me. (Which I also got into thanks to this place.)

So happy new knife day, for me. :)

Indeed! I guess we are guilty. Happy new knife day to you! I've got two coming to me this week. At least I think it is just two.

I wish I had a camera. Black peanut and black medium jack. They're like little and big brother.
The only thing is I wish the medium jack had half stops. Otherwise everything happy in slippie land. :)

I do, too! I'd love to see them.

Black peanut and black medium jack.

My local store has a black medium jack, and amongst all the many pretty pretties in the Case display, there's something just right about that combination-- the black scales on the medium jack pattern. I haven't yet asked to hold it, because that almost always leads to trou-ble, but I'm always surprised and then pleased that it catches my eye, every single time.

Congrats on some good choices, and happiness in slippie land. :)

I have a great deal of attatchment to the Jack Knife pattern seeing as it was my first real quality slipjoint aside from a SAK. They are hard to beat for just a general use EDC knife.

Happy new knife day, indeed.

Now, if you are tired of your old Busses, I could help with that. :D

Buy a sway back jack...cmon...do it...you know you want to....

And after you get the SBJ by no means and I mean this don't ever look at a thread that has GEC in it and never ever look at a pic of any GEC product. And if by any chance someone hands you a GEC knife do not even think of touching it. You've been worned. :)

Paradiggum old friend, let me pint out a wee little thing you may have overlooked, called the good side of it.

By your own count, you say you've accumulated four peanuts already. A good number for such a short time. This in itself puts you in very good standing in the cult. Not something to be taken lightly. At this rate, I see a bright future for you. Ohhh, maybe a middle management Kahuna level.

Don't you guys just love it when occasionlly, someone from the world of tactical folders defects to us, after falling prety to the charm of a traditional pocket knife? I especially like it when the realization hits home that it does everything a tactical folder does, but without any of the negative connotation.

Congratulations on your first Case knives. I've got a few now too:

Maybe this pic will give you some "funny ideas."

Happy new knife day. Sure is a nice feeling watching the mail person come up the drive with that package in their hand.

It might be a little while before another buying spurt. I only mentioned the Case knives. I've recently bought a bunch of Opinels and several SAKs.
I originally just wanted a Peanut. It most reminded me of the knife I carried as a kid because it has 2 blades. I've always had a SAK of some sort around and my Grandfather and Father both carried an Opinel 7.
I just wanted something a little classier in the larger size so I got the medium Jack. Carried it today and I'm happy with it. Of course I also had the Peanut and a Spyderco Delica. Maybe a little much but eh, whatever. :)

I'm also quite happy carrying a Spyderco and either a traditional or a Victorinox on me. Today I have a purple Delica 4 and a Vic Sportsman. But I've been carrying my Buck 301 for most of the week.

It's nice to have options. I've actually had someone question why I would carry a Delica. It was the older gen 3 version. But I've never seen anyone question a peanut or a SAK. Not that it can't happen. There are some pretty uptight people out there. But it's a lot less likely.

Well I didn't listen to the above given advice and I did check out GEC. Checked out some others as well. I discovered something about my taste in handle material. I'm not sure if it's from carrying Spyderco for so long but I seem to prefer synthetic handle material for some reason.

Strange, as much as I like high quality woods and materials in other items such as guitars, you'd think I'd go for the higher end materials in knives.

Less than 5 min ago, curiosity got the better of me and I ordered a Tan Lightweight Caliber Peanut. Looks like a good knife to stick in the center console of my car and just leave it there. And the price wasn't bad.

I came upon this forum on a makeshift raft made from yellow FRN and highly textured black G-10, floating on a sea of blue loctite, starved for something more! Believe me, the pleasure is all ours!!!:D
