Mark was kind enough to whip up an itty-bitty wharnie with some nice burl scales for my mom to use opening all manner of medical supplies at her dialysis clinic. I received it a while back and put a patina on it with vinegar (my mom is good about cleaning knives, but not so good about oiling them, and she has rust concerns) then I polished the edge with my finer stones and strop so that it's mirror polished. The Kydex sheath is my first, and I can tell you that I will continue to not do Kydex until I have a bandsaw and belt sander--cutting and sanding that thing by hand sucked a lot! Anyway, the knife is an awesome little slicer and I'm sure that my mom will be thrilled!

ETA: The Kydex was molded around the knife with magnets on the blade, because I had this neat idea to combine Kydex fit retention with magnetic retention, but nothing short of 2-ton epoxy is going to keep those magnets attached to that plastic, so I eventually gave up and now I'm calling them "gripping points" :P

Noah L, hope your mom likes it! the kydex turned out great... I have been drooling over your leather holsters over in Stompers forum!!! They are incredible!

Thanks, I'm sure she will love it! I thought about making a leather sheath, but she needs something thin and easily sterilized since she works in a medical environment wearing scrubs, so I went with Kydex. I've had it sitting around since last year when I tried to make a Kydex liner for a leather sheath and that failed miserably because I couldn't cut the stuff :P

ETA: She loves it--it's the sharpest knife in the house (granted, I did polish it on my Hard Arkansas stone and a strop, but it was still sharper than any of the knives in the house with the edge that came on it because it was shaving sharp out of the box) and all her employees are jealous

I've just traded for a MW biddy Warnie. I love it. Green Micarta in a tiny kydex sheath it makes a great pocket carry piece. I do wish it had a lanyard hole though, but oh well like it just the same.
