I have been a happy itunes and ipod user for a few months now and I want to get my wife one for Christmas. My question is, how does itunes work with multiple ipods connecting to the same machine? Will all the songs automatically download to both? Or can they be seperate on there? Thanks.

The default setting is to automatically sync the iPod with whatever is on the computer. However there is an option to manage songs manually hidden arouns somewhere. This option requires that you manually drag and drop any songs, playlists, etc. from the library to the iPod. It might be a bit more of a PITA but at least it will allow you to keep different music on both iPods. Also it allows you to delete music from the computer without removing it from the iPod and vice versa.

Thank you. I'm probably getting her the shuffle, so at least it's not too many songs to contend with there.

If you set up different user act on windows it will work great I have like 5 ipods .Each user will have there own window, and Itunes will know the diff . Good luck.;)

Cool I didn't know that. I'm still relatively new to the music downloading scene. Thanks!

When you plug in the iPod, right click on it in the bar on the left of the screen. From there you can manage it. I have mine update select playlist. You can also put on you photos, calander, or whatever.

Here's another dumb question. As it is now when I plug it in, it just downloads everything that's new in my library. Where do you go to manage it?
