I've Been Blessed for a 5th Time & The New Arival is Absolutely Perfect

That's right, as of today there is a 5th Spyderco in my fairly sizable knife collection. I mostly collect pocket knives, i.e. folders and have put together quite the collection of both new and vintage.

I was gifted a Spyderco Endura 4 Folding Plain Edge FRN Knife and it arrived in the mail today straight from Amazon. It is absolutely perfect and what you would expect from a Spyderco. Great steel,
Screw together construction; Skeleton steel internal liners; Phosphor bronze bushings, Flat saber-ground blade & Blade Steel is VG-10.

Lately my EDC had been a razor sharp Spyderco UK Pen-knife and it has served me well but I wanted to switch things up anyway. I tried using my Spyderco Para2 but I found that I was getting paranoid about losing it or it falling out of my pocket. I love my Para2 but I'm almost neurotic at times when it comes to losing/damaging it. Thing is that this behavior of mine rubs against the grain of everything I believe and preach. I'm not a complete hipcryt as the Para2 is the only knife I seem to do this with.

This brings this story back around to the Endura 4. Yes it is on the mildly higher cost scale based on the average man in the street type opinion but it's not irriplaceable. The blade locks in perfectly and there is no play whatsoever. I'm not familiar with the material used for the scales, it looks like it's some sort of plastic but with new polymers coming out on a weekly basis I've stopped assuming anything. It's a little bit hefty but there is quite a bit of blade so it's to be expected but it's not so heavy to make it noticeably uncomfortable, or even noticeable, when clipped in my pocket.

I'll post pictures shortly, I know you guys know what the knife looks like but we all love showing off our knives and new acquisitions.

Don't know how much it cost as it was a gift for helping someone out a couple of months ago. I really didn't expect any kind of reward or payment or anything like that so I was blown away by this gesture and it is very much appreciated.

Edit: Here's a picture of the not so little rascal.

Not sure if I'll be moving the clip around or not. The fact that the knife, while closed, measures 5 inches makes it a different animal from the considerably smaller Spyderco UK Pen-Knife. I'm not sure if I'm all that keen on the scales so if anyone has any advice on an upgrade I'd really appreciate it. There isn't anything "wrong" with the grip as it is I'm just thinking that something much nicer would be a prudent upgrade. The knife isn't riveted so changing things around should be fairly easy.

So, anyone have any thoughts on this knife, experiences?

Anyone have any suggestions regarding upgrading the grip/scales?

The handles on the Endura are FRN(Fiber Reinforced Nylon) like on the lightweight UKPK, the grip is just patterned differently. VG-10 is a good steel for EDC as it's easy to sharpen, takes a nice edge, and holds it for quite a long time, while not being extremely prone to rust or extreme wear.
As for upgrading the scales, check out Blade HQ, they have Aluminum replacement scales for the Endura. Though right now they're all sold out.
Also we have some great guys here on the forum that do scale work. You could just send them your Endura, tell them the color and design you want and have it back soon with great new scales.

The Endura is an awesome knife. I've owned a few and liked all of them. EDC'd one for a little while. I actually want another one because it is a good knife and I should have kept one of the ones I've owned.
I EDC'd it's little brother(Delica) for a while and that little guy could do anything.
I think you'll really like the Endura, enjoy it.

As for not using your Para 2 - Don't worry about losing it, just keep tabs on it. It's also an awesome EDC.
