Folks,

I just have to tell someone. I finished the CASE Dynasty book and wanted to revisitLittle Valley NY The village of knives. I was awe inspired. Beautiful day, in the 50's I saw the old Case factory, just a brick house now, and the boarded up Cattaraugus plant. I was moved. The town is just about dead and the I closed my eyes and visioned the plants in full production. I just couldn't believe how historical this area was and just wasting away. I wanted so bad to search the ground, look inside the plants and ask questions. People just laughed at me and shrugged their shoulders with my questions. They know not what they have. It was a walk among the cutlery history like I have never experienced. I think you will understand. It is such a beautiful area and rich with history of our favorite hobby. It you get a chance, go, it was well worth the afternoon trip for me. The ulitmate collectable, to own the Case factory !!!!!!!!! Imagine 8) 8) Thanks for letting be express myself. I intend to learn more and more and more.

Although I'm not a Case collector, nor have I read the book, I would definitely be interested in taking a ride through that town and seeing the old factories.

It's only about 2.5 hours from me and I may end up eating bird in Conneaut this weekend any way, so I'd be just a skip away.

Do you have addresses for the buildings or did you just drive around to find them?

You would think in a town that small that knives might become a cottage industry, especially with as many Case collectors as there are. I would have expected reports of a couple of great shops selling vintage knives.

No shops in LV but a nice Antique mall in nearby Salamanca. If you go in to town via Rt 242 (?) from I - 86 you will arrive on Fair Oaks Dr. Look at the brick house on the right between 7th and 9th streets. This is the old CASE factory.. AMAZING, the old CAT plant is on the West end of town near the Military Museum. OFF by itself. From Conneaut, about 2 hours. ENJOY and let me know what you think. I was truly inspired.
