Hi,

I've searched the forum and the internet and haven't had much luck.

I'm looking for a photograph of a good burr. The internet has plenty of burr "illustrations," but they're just drawings.

There are some burr photos, but they're so close-up perspective is lost and it's hard to tell what the hell you're looking at.

Anyone know where i can find a decent burr photograph?

Thanks

If your other side of the blade has the same angle I would consider that a blessing.

I wish that was the case.... The other side has a 2ndary bevel that's twice as wide as this side, btw this didn't came off production line, it's a warranty replacement from one of the top knife manufacture and this is one of their premium model. I would be ashamed if I'm a knife maker and hand this out to a customer as a premium model.

The linked site above is a good place for that, and for many other great edge-related pics. All are taken with a SEM (scanning electron microscope).

Edited to add:
The author of the content on the above-linked site is a BF member as well (username 'ToddS'), and posts here pretty frequently.

(I would've added that credit^ earlier; but it was very early, I hadn't had my coffee yet and I couldn't remember his username. :o )

That is really sad.
I really like some BM models but this, along with their crazy pricing, has had me stay away from them for about 2 years now.

As long as a new knife has relatively even grinds I don't mind a burr.
I have a small ceramic stone that is great for most burrs and if it's quiet I can actually hear the burr coming off.
