I've found "The One"

Well, after years of collecting knives and spending thousands of dollars on everything from Opinels to custom knives by top makers, I've finally found "The One." The knife I found meets all my criteria: a 2.5 inch blade size, medium weight, opening hole, low ride clip, tip down, metal scales with a design, frame lock, great F&F, and decent steel (doesn't have to be a "gee whiz" steel for my uses). After all this time and money I'm somewhat embarrassed to say that my "holy grail" is a CRKT knife. The knife is the CRKT Pazoda, as shown below, and it cost a whopping $20.

While your specifications for the ideal folder are bound to be different than mine, this little knife is definitely worth a look if you need a small, stout gent's knife. Now I can stop buying knives. (fat chance) :D

Very nice! I still dont know what my actual criteria is for a knife yet but I'm just busy buying the knives that catch my interest right now. Im pretty happy with my Mini Pocket Rocket from Benchmade but still hoping that I get the 710 this summer. The Pazoda does look very classy especially for such a low priced knife. And as far as you being done with buying knives... Well put it this way, I've said that about 15 times and I still come back for more :) But congrats on finding your grail :)

Hi Mark -

That looks like a nice little knife!

Congrats, although I am skeptical of your being able to stop buying knives. :D

I have found a few that I really love, a few that I like a lot and not too many that I don't like something about them.

I wish I could get in the mode of getting rid of one or two when I buy another, but I just cannot let them go!

I have better luck giving knives away as gifts to friends than I do trying to sell my knives.

Good luck with your new knife, and please post a review if you find time.

best regards -

my condolences :(

it's always a sad day when you find the "perfect knife" because it totally destroys your knife shopping. i hate going to a gun/knife show and not being able to find anything that fits my needs better than what i'm currently carrying. it's like that old commercial where the guy's computer tells him "you have finished surfing the internet" :(

Now you need a custom made copy, prefect steel, maybe Titanium scales, ikbs bearings...etc....the works

Greetings DaPro: I'd like to add my sentiments to those of Mark J. You have just given me a new, involved and undoubtedly expensive idea. OldDude1

Wow, that is amazing. I've often fantasized about finding the "perfect knife." So, was there a heavenly chorus in the background? When you held it did a ray of light shine down? One of these days!

If you like the Pazoda you'll absolutely love the Buck/Mayo Waimea. 2.5" Bos HT S30V blade, titanium framelock, and only weighs 1.8 oz. :D

all i know is that I am never satisfied for a long period of time. I think I am, and then something comes along that blows my (( XXX )) mind, and that desire to acquire takes over. i have come to terms with it.

I have found the 'perfect' knife so many times I have lost count, but that is a nice one. CRKT have sure been on a roll lately.

The Kershaw 1740 ENER-G is a similar knife:

flipper design
G-10 scales
Sandvik 14C28N steel
2.2 oz.
$30 shipped, eBay

It's not as attractive as the CRKT, though, more of an EDC beater.

It actually was weird. It was this feeling of, "well, I guess I finally found it" and a very calm, peaceful feeling. No heavenly chorus, but I did hear my dog bark in the background. :D

CRAP  :D

Have you held the Caly 3?

I took a look and didn't see any with metal scales?? Other than that, it looks like a pretty cool knife.

Hmm. It doesn't fit a number of my criteria, but it looks interesting. Thanks for the heads up.
