Hey Guys,

does anyone of you ever had the feeling that most people think you have completely lost it? Most people consider you a nut if you carry a knife ! I only have one friend that completely understands the magic of a blade but he's also an avid gun collector :) The point is when I'm at the pub we usually frequent and around closing time when we all get a bit drunk, sometimes some guy flicks out some cheap "stainless china" blade and when I whip out my SOG,BM or spydey and shave hair with it they look like you're crazy ? "Do you always carry this?" they ask as if they just didn't whip out their knife !? So I gave up on not scaring the sheeple I carry whatever whenever however I feel like and if someone wants to put me in jail for it just go ahead! (oh yeah I belgium noone would put you in jail for this) I'm sick of the sheeple and their stupid laws! I mean my father carried a shovel to the pub when he was done working on his farm! Imagine the damage he could have done :)

OK feeling a bit better now :) Thanks for listening, anyone feel the same ?

I'm familiar enough with my knives that I carry(same set, same spots, 24/7 in clothes... 1 is 24/7 all the time(sleep with it on too). I open chip bags with a 4", I clean my nails with a 4", I do whatever I want to with whatever I want to. 4" is basically an accpted length here, though I can carry 6" legally. Only carry 1 slipjoint, and thats for the times I just don't need to use a large one.

It's just reality that not everyone appreciates every hoby or tool. Try talking guitars with someone who doesn't play. Try talking history with someonw who doesn't read or just doesn't care. Try talking politics with a random stranger! You just got to get with the right people to discuss your hobby and only take out your knife when you legitimately need to use it. A knife or gun is a potential weapon and showing it when you don't have a task could be taken as threatening by even some open minded people.

Oh yeah I don't think locking blades are legal here also got some crap at the Dutch border once about one being over 3 inches

My leek is never further than 2 inches from any part of my body at any given time :) still trying to find a good grit to sharpen it with though, ultra fine 1000x doesnt seem too practical

Yeah man. I've gotten that enough. It really hurt this one time. Usually when some stranger looks at you like you're crazy, it's pretty easy to brush off since they don't really know you, and probably didn't come from the same upbringing, etc. But one time my own aunt nearly went crazy when I showed her a large Bowie knife I was making. I mean, I was rather proud of it. It had great balance, I sanded that blade FOREVER all the way down to 2000 grit, it had all the proper lines and geometry I was seeking... And all she could say was "What are you doing with that thing?! It's only for killing people! Here, let me wrap it up in a rag and put it in this bucket so no one can see it..." (no kidding! she really said that!) I was dumbfounded. It kinda felt bad to have my own aunt basically accuse me of being a psycopath. So yeah, I kinda know what it's like to be misunderstood for my hobbies and beliefs. In fact, it feels about the same when someone says to me something like "Why does killing a defenseless animal make some men feel big?" I guess they just don't understand, but it gets to me now and then.

Lost it? try walking around with a Lightfoot axe on a Bladerigger shoulder harness sometime...it's sure to get some "attention" ;)

School. That's all I have to say. Everyone knows I carry my knives and care for them passionately. Even teachers turn the blind eye but still people question me and give me odd looks when I pull out my cousin's serrated endura to cut a burger during lunch

I carry whatever the hell I want, when I want!

When I use my Benchmade Griptillian it usually turns some heads and I get a response like "Damn now thats a knife" or "What kind of knife is that?". Well its just a knife that I happen to like and it gets the job done and if it happens to look scary, so much the better.:D

It might just be me, but the shaving hair thing might be the problem. I mean slice an apple in midair, or drop a piece of paper over it....don't go straight for the foilage...

Don't get me wrong, I've had my share of bald patches....(I don't have any now, that's my story and, well, you know...)

But some people can't understand why anyone would want any bald patches at all...

:D
