I've got a hole in my SAK!

Is anybody else really annoyed when they inevitably lose one of the "accessory" items from their SAK? Toothpick, tweezers, etc. I can be quite passionate but it usually blows over quickly. Rant, Rave, Done. But not this time. I reached for my Vic Rucksack today and realized that the toothpick was missing. As sad as it sounds, finding the empty hole totally ruined my day. I literally had to stop what I was doing and place an online order for replacement. Of course it gave me an excuse to order a couple other things I have been putting off. I probably should have sent my Ruck back to Vic because one scale is coming loose and end of one liner is bent. I doubt if I'll ever send it back though. We have been through too much together. Sorry for the ramble. Just curious if those empty slots bother anyone else the way the get to me.

When I was a kid I lost the tweezers to my vic tinker. They were the only tweezers that could grip the tiny spines of the pricly pear cactus, that I always had in my hands and arms. For some reason, downed game in south Texas always head for cacti, at least in my experience. About three years passed with that hole in my pocket knife, when I was sitting next to the fireplace and found those tweezers at the junction of the tile and the carpet... By then the scale had broken at the top such that the tweezers kind of rattled around when in the knife. Yeah it can be a bummer when you loose the accessories, but you'll be extra happy when you find it in like 5 years.

When my first toothpick went missing I had the unusual good sense to order a generous supply of each losable. That assured for the next 10 years I wouldn't have to replace anything, which was what happened.

i always lose the toothpick on my classic. Ill probably pick up an alox classic or companion so I dont have to look at that missing piece anymore.

I have lost toothpicks and tweezers. I live near the Vic Store, and pick up replacements as needed. What hurt most was sending my small penknife back for warranty repair, and recieving a new one in return.

i reckon its great when knife companies do that , except you had a sentimental attachment to it.

Toothpicks, tweezers and miniscrewdrivers is what I buy most.
Yup! All the time too, not that I've ever needed them as necessary tool accessories!
And I am proud to say that I haven't lost or had the slightest urge to used the toothpick just yet, in fact everything is pretty much in mint condition.
I buy them simply because I hate walking away empty handed after handling brandnew SAKs at the counter for the longest time possible. Least I could do was to be a genuine customer without being overly stared at by nervous security personel.

Do you guys use, wash, then reuse your toothpicks? Or throw them out after using them once. Never used mine by the way.

Wipe it off on my jeans and put it back in the slot. Doesn't everybody?

Hi,

I use my toothpick a lot - usually wash with soap & water. If I can't, I wipe it down until the next time. A great tool!!!!:D

I know it's gross but simply wipe my toothpick off after using it then replace it. No one uses it but me. However my SAK's get a hot water and soap washing every so often.

Would you guys quit posting to this thread and let it die please? The thread title conjures up a nasty picture in mind, and it makes me wince every time I see it at the top of the page.

Thank you for your understanding.

I clean mine with rubbing alcohol whenever I also clean the blades and can opener on my SAKs. I do that once or twice a week; since I use rubbing alcohol to clean my glasses every morning, I just also wipe down the SAKs and the toothpicks and tweezers every second or third or fourth morning as well.

Mind you, I only use the toothpick in cases of serious, serious emergency, like when I've got something stuck between my teeth and gum that is actually causing soreness and I can't stop to get a real wooden toothpick somewhere.

Now we can close the thread. The replacements arrived and all is right again in my universe.:)
