Kershaw 1670S30V Album
1cokB.jpg

This is my first S30V blade, and I couldn't be happier! It's a pretty large folder, but thin enough to EDC. It feels great in my hand, the Trac-Tec handle inserts are nice and grippy. The Speedsafe deployment is fast and precise. There is NO blade play in any direction. The stonewashed S30V is gorgeous and the edge is hair splitting sharp. I want to carry it tip up, but I am waiting until I get a Torx set.

I read somewhere that Kershaw made a couple of these with a stonewashed clip, if you have any information on where I can get one, it would be very much appreciated. It would be even better if it was a lowrider stonewashed clip.

You can't go wrong with a Blur. Congrats on your purchase.

Thanks! I've always been a fan of the Blur, felt real nice but I never bought one. When I saw that there was a stonewashed S30V version I had to have one!

I love my Blur but it doesn't get much pocket time because of the trac tec.

I think I'm going to start carrying it tip down in the back pocket though.

I just got one recently and I like it also but I haven't carried it much since another new acquisition beat it out this week. The Blur was a bit larger than I expected because I'm used to knives with thinner blades and handles. My Blur seems to work perfectly too and I think is a good EDC. Mine was a bit dull when I got it so I have to do a little more touchup before its turn for EDC comes. I've been toying with the idea of buying a red or olive model and swapping the parts around. I like mine tip-down. When I pull it out with my fingertips my thumb falls right on the thumb stud ready to open it.

It was larger than I expected as well, but I am still fine carrying it. I have seen people making franken-blurs with different color handles, and it is a pretty cool. If I ever did that, it would have to be with the blue handled blur. I carry all my knives tip up, and my thumb falls on the stud as I draw it, but I dont have to rotate knife into my palm as you have to with tip-down. I also think its safer to have it tip up, and the blade being blocked from opening by side of where the pocket meets the pants. Another benefit to tip-up is that if you attach a lanyard, it hangs out of your pocket and makes pulling the knife out that much easier.

Blurs are cool especialy in S30V which is a great blade steel however I don't believe I've tried Kershaw's /ZT's S30V but I've used several different steels of theirs which I felt were excellent so I would have no doubts that their S30V would be top notch. I also realy like that stonewashed finish I've found it to wear quite nicely.

a photo of my new Blur just for grins.

Nice Leek! I would totally get one if I could find a s30v "Random Leek" with plain blade. Not much of a fan of the regular Leek blade shape because of the lack of a belly, but I may still get the composite blade with ss handles soon.
