I've never owned a Cold Steel before but I was looking for something inexpensive and light to carry around the house to open up packages while cooking, mail, boxes, and general utility stuff that I find I need a folder for. I knew I wanted a wharncliffe blade and then I came across the Tuff Lite.

EDIT:

Got the TL in today and I wore it around the house all night. I used it several times and this thing is pure utility. It's exactly what I was looking for; something light and handy to carry around the house to cut open boxes, packaging, etc.

Gratz!

I have had a Tuff-Lite for a few years. I found it to be a steal of a blade. Great EDC....in fact a couple Christmas's ago I gave a few out as gifts.

The tuff lite is one of my favorite knives, I have stuff that costs way more, but the tuff lite is so usable and great in hand.

Cold steel though, please make one in CTS-XHP, that would kick everything else out of my pocket. Tip up would be a nice bonus as well. But XHP, mmm yes please.

This is the dream!

Or a 3.5-4" Frenzy too. Enjoy your videos, you are prob the first one on youtube to show that model.

BTW Jimislash, off topic, I love your YT channel, but i think you might wanna consider improving the lighting for your video. IMO it's the biggest turn off.
If it's not for your username, i would not have clicked into your video if i see such poor lightning on the cover image for the video. It looks like you are doing it under a desk lamp, so you might wanna consider doing it in a very bright room or use more even/flat lighting instead of a spotlight. Also consider using a different background, perhaps a matte white/black one that does not reflect light.
This will probably help attract more users to your video and increase your subscriber base.

Ok. I will do that. Thank you for the advice. I am doing it under a desk lamp. :) I will get on that right away.

I knew it was a desk lamp LOL! Just looks like it. I think the cover image is important, it's probably the first thing people see before they read the title. Just like when im looking for a movie to watch on netflix or DVD, if the cover doesn't attract me, i usually won't even bother looking at it more.
Maybe you can do outdoor video on a sunny day too, you'll guarantee to have good lightning. Plus it makes the color on the knife looks more realistic and attractive.

I will work on all of this. Thank you for your advice.

I've been carrying one for several months and love it for the most part too...just about perfect size for me. Just wish it was a bit thinner when closed (the blade forms quite a "hump" when closed), and I miss having some belly to the blade. If they were to come out with a version with a slight curve I would definitely get one.

Just today, my son went into my CS drawer and asked to buy this knife off of me. It's a great blade. Like you said, it is super handy. Congrats!

congrats on your new knife. great choice for your first CS, IMO one of their most utilitarian model ever

Congrats on your first Cold Steel knife! It won't be your last (trust me on this).

Hi Bluemetalchurch,

just as our other fellows said: you will like Cold Steel, that's pretty sure. You probably have read some opinions about Cold Steel and Lynn Thompson, and there seem to be quite a few opinions... well.

Me, personally, I like Cold Steel a lot. Great Knives (and other stuff) that really works. As a Folder, I only got their SPARTAN Folder, and the tri-ad-lock is a strong mechanism. I think what's best about CS are their awesome Tomahawks...

Best, Erik

I got to tell you guys, I've been carrying the Tuff Lite everyday around the house. It's perfect for gym shorts or pajama pants because it's really light. The ergo's are excellent and the wharncliffe is amazing. Just a great design. I would consider this a "perfect" knife.

Would I like tip down? Sure. Better steel (CTS-XHP)? Why not?

But at the price this thing is I won't complain about anything that this knife has to offer. This knife is the total package.

Yes, this is one of the most useful knives ever!

I just got a couple more of them to use at work and home.

I'll probably get one of the blue ones later on too.
