As the title suggests ive gotten a raise at my part time job(im only 15) and now more expensive knives are in my grasp. Ive posted a thread for a stainless steel fixed blade before and had pretty good recommendations. But now ive got a budget of about $200 and want a knife in stainless steel or d2.
Blade length: 4.5 to 7 inches
Sheath:doesnt matter im a kydexer
Coating:doesnt matter im a beckerhead so thats settled
Cant be a tanto
Grind:doesnt matter but i would be a LOT happier if it wasnt hollow
Hrc:i want it to be easy to sharpen so i dont want a hrc of 60. Something like 56-58 or slightly lower
If you cant name a knife but know a company just tell me the company name.

Get an ESEE-4 in 440C with all of the sheath goodies. It's a little short, but I don't prefer big stainless fixed blades because they lack lateral flexibility.

Good job on the raise hard work pays off let us know what you decided on.

Congratulations on the raise, I know you're fired up about being able to splurge on a new blade.
However, if you have the discipline, build your knife fund to 400.00 and then go on the hunt for a new knife. This will give you time to look, research and have the flexibility to get what you really want.
There's just so much to chose from nowadays, from my experience, when I've purchased too quickly, sure enough something else comes up that I should have held out for.

As far as what brand, there's a bunch of reviews, opinions and tests right here on BF that should help you in your choice.
Good Luck in your hunt!!!!

Check out the Knives of Alaska line, all in D2, great grips, hardened to around 58, and you'll have money left to spend (on a custom sheath maybe).

The Fiddleback Forge Production Bushfinger is just a tad over 4 inches and just slightly over your budget. We have never gotten a single complaint on them and they just feel so darn good in the hand!

Would you be open to a chisel grind?

I have 154cm and S35VN.

MAkives, what's your intended purpose for this new knife you want to buy? hhmoore posted the idea of getting a Fallkniven A1, and I couldn't agree more because I have an A1 and I love it. In fact I'm leaving for the Apostle Islands this morning to do some camping, and the A1 is definitely coming along. My only hesitation with suggesting the A1 is because it's a hell of a lot of knife. It's cool to have, but to good of a tool just to sit around. I would suggest the Fallkniven F1b, the one with a black coated blade. Yes it's smaller than you suggested, but you can do lots of sh*t with it while you hone your skills in the field. Or, if you must have a larger blade there's the Becker BK2 Clear Coat Companion. Both the Fallkniven and Becker are great knives, and not so expensive that if anything happens to them, as in you loose it or it happens to get legs, you won't be heartbroken. Whatever you get remember not to take it to school to show your friends. Bad juju for sure. Congrats on working hard for your money, and good luck.

With a budget of $200, I'm wondering if you may be in a price range where you could contact one of the knife makers here on the forum and give him your specs, and have knife made just for you. You could have a one off, beautiful knife, built exactly the way you want that you could cherish and really use for the rest of your life. Not a bad memento from a teenager's part time job!

Fa1bladeguy. This is gonna do all types of stuff not bushcraft per say but almost anything skinning or boning aside of course.when i go backpacking i take a brush clearer a machete thats lightweight but doesnt split wood for a fire well so i use my primary knife.then when im kayaking i need a knife that i can use to baton down a tree for a fire then featherstick it if its really wet. So yeah it needs to be versatile. I will most likely have a bk24 on me at all times

Lots of D2 from Kizlyar.. Most all of their fixed blades hit right in your price range... Plus RCETroy here on the forums offers some beautiful pieces for sale.. Might talk to him..
Viper knives from Italy makes nice looking blades.. MaxPUDition also makes some fair looking blades in d2, but I have previous hatred of the brand for other reasons (not knife related).. And DuStar. They make some tough sounding pieces.

Have fun! And remember, every week you spend looking, add 25 bux to your budget... Lol

Oh i almost forgot i would like it to have a combat knifeish design and a finger guard sorta like the beckers

Survive or Bark River knives seems like they would fit your criteria perfectly. Something in 3V steel would be awesome for you.

The bull dozier is 1 of those knives that to me went overboard in its design. Ive sorta decided on the boker vox rold but until i do buy it in still searching

Have seen a few Brous knives for sale under your price. Check out knifecenter. He uses d2 exclusively.
