Without posting parting shots in them, so they'll sink to Screen 2 a few hours faster. I had some hopes for them last night, but this morning I think they'll annoy more people than they'll amuse, and they were never intended to be particularly informative.

There should be room for humor here in the general forum, if we can both stay near the topic and be witty and not crude about it. But we have a couple of other forums for humor and off-topic stuff. There's Community where we have a number of running gags, though there is a "good taste" in effect there too. And we have another forum that's password-protected where people can blow off steam.

So if the moderators of either of those forums want one or more the threads in question over there, they can e-mail me, and I'll send them over.

And for what appears to be a very "tolerant" message board, coarse humor, and ladies in trashy outfits, go to the "beer commercial fun" page at www.themanshow.com Our own undead rodent has even given them some knife content, of a sort.

There was some intent to make fun of other threads here, that were deemed "lame." One of the purposes of the Whine &Cheese forum is to be a place where threads elsewhere may be mocked. Here, if you see a thread that looks to you like a summer rerun of a show that bored you the first time around ... just tune in somewhere else. Nobody (including me!) has time to read all these threads!

Or you could even take the time to answer a newbie question you've answered before. There are a number of such, where I should probably arrange to have my canned answers a few keystrokes away.

Now have fun, and play nice!

I believe we are experiencing growing pains here on the forums. When I joined, there was about 4000 members, and now there is over 7000!! That is great. I can understand why you administrator/moderator types are making posts like this one, locking threads, etc., etc. One thing that I would like to make known, however, is that I mostly hang out in the general and shop talk forums. These are where I can get answers from my friends and give answers to my friends. I am familiar with the people who post on these two forums, and, I have just enough time to check these two forums as it is. This is one reason why myself and I venture to guess that many others are a little cheesed off. I don't want to go to the shop talk forum to ask Tom Mayo a question about steel, then to a host of other forums in the community section to find his jokes, his pictures, etc. I assume that this is just what I'll have to do.

You moderators/administrators are doing a great job, and it is a tough one. Please don't make things too confusing around here though, as I get lost easily.

Lock a few more.
When there is absolutely no knife content in them they just clutter up the place.

Do what you gotta do James. IMHO, your judgement has always been outstanding.

And so, to all outdoor folks, the knife is the most important item of equipment.
