It's down to the Tactile Rockwall MagnaCut vs the Tactile Rockwall 20CV vs the Benchmade Mini Bugout 533-3 (CF and S90V).
Which would you pick?

The Bugout is a fine knife, but I'd have the Rockwall any day

That IS a tough one... I'm not sure because I've never handled a Rockwall. I sure do love my Bugout though, and it's just a simple plastic one. That CF/S90V one would be real sweet.

I'm this close to pulling the trigger on a Rockwall, but if you think this might be the way you're going - I will wait and look forward to your thoughts if you end up going in that direction.

I don't like being the guinea pig for new products, but this one looks promising.

I'm assuming the pic is your knife? Care to share any quick pros/cons?

Another vote for the Rockwall. I'd take it in either steel over the Bugout, but I would try and go for the Magnacut...

Have voiced this many times, but I just never fell in love with the full size Bugout even though I still own one, can't imagine I'd like the mini Bugout any more..

The thing I dislike about the rockwall is the bearings. If you use your knife for anything dirty often, you’ll have terrible action. I don’t like the bugout but I’d take it over the rockwall for that reason.

I hear this fairly regularly, just about bearings in general..

But in my experience I can honestly say that, outside of one time with wet sand, I've never had any of my bearing knives get so gunked up that it made any noticeable difference to the action..

Any time my bearing knives get any noticeable amount of dirt/grime in them, 95% of the time just blowing it out will clean it up, and the other 5% just run it under the sink.. bearings will fill with gunk faster than a washer knife, but they are also faster to clean out.. imo, ymmv 😁

I’d have to go with the tactile to try it out. The bug out never really did it for me. The several I’ve handled have all been the plastic scales though and felt kind of sub-par and too light for my likings.

I have never owned the Rockwall but I have owned 3 Bugouts. I would choose that again personally. The Bugout is it for smaller EDC blades for me. I've customized 3 so far. Gave 2 away to each of my older boys because they just work. Of they ever make it in Magnacut I will buy that quick.

I'm also not a big fan of bearings on knives. I feel good washers are just fine.

Thanks everyone for your input.
I found a Rockwall in 20CV here in the forums for a good price and snatched it up.
This will be my first ball bearing knife so I'm interested to see how it feels.
As for mucking the bearings up, I have other "phosphor bronze" knives for the really dirty stuff.
Probably the worst this will see is cardboard. :)
I'll let you all know what I think of it when it gets here.

I own all three and I love my Bugouts, but the Rockwall is a definite tier above the Benchmades.

The Rockwall is a very thin knife, so that might be an issue for some. I personally like the handle width. It might tend to twist in your hand during heavy cutting tasks, but at that point you might need to find a different knife.

My only real complaint with the Rockwall is the ramp on the clip is very shallow: it’s a tight fit getting over heavy denim jeans. I have a couple pair of Wrangler Riggs with the leather pocket wrap, and I can’t carry the Rockwall if I wear them.

Other than that, it’s a near perfect slim, lightweight EDC.

You will like it! I posted pretty much the same thread a few months back and someone recommended the Rockwall. I got the Thumbstud in Magnacut and love it. The detent is strong so you get one hell of a SNAP!

It is indeed, and one of my favorites. The Rockwall is a pretty straightforward design but excellently done. It's slim, it's light, it's comfortable in the hand, it slices well but the blade isn't too thin, and the texturing is nice. Only downsides are that clip isn't great for thick fabric and thumbstuds aren't the easiest to access, although that comes with the advantage of being slim and less snag-prone.

Rockwall all day every day. It is a great knife. Not to say Benchmade would be bad but the rockwall is just a better knife in my opinion.
