It seems like that the sharper i learn to get a knife the sharper I need to get the next one. Recently purchased the KME system and really love it but I'm finding that I have a couple of knives that I can't quite get there with the KME so I ordered a KO SharpMaker, should be heer tomorrow.
The KME will remain my primary system but it will be nice to have the KO for those difficult blades.

If you've "got the bug", you'll go down the rabbit hole farther than this. :D

I had a WEPS pro pack 2 in a shopping cart all ready to go and had to talk myself out of it... Next you'll start looking at knives thinking "Well, this blade has a little bit more edge taking ability than that one, I need to start getting knives in this steel... Well the steel took an edge great but the geometry leaves something to be desired I need to get this style of knives..." Which will eventually lead you to buy Opinels, Higonokamis, and kitchen knives for no other reason than to slice toilet paper, phonebook paper and whittle hairs. It's vicious.

I hope I'm done buying sharpeners, started out with the Sharpmaker, it's nice but other than touch ups not worth much. Then I got the DMT Aligner and I found that very awkward to use and extremely limiting so that actually went into the trash after a couple of weeks, i did at least keep the sharpmaker. Then came the KME, this one I really do like for a lot of reasons, it resolved all of the issues I had with the DMT Aligner and the KME will I think remain my goto sharpener. I just found that for some tasks I needed a little bit more and I think that the KO will handle that.
I did go out yesterday and buy a couple cheap knives to practice on rather than destroy one of my good ones so we'll see what happens.

Absolutely, I even modified the KME to hold them :)

Sorry to get in to your conversation; that was a good call, I also got a KME and I do like it a lot; I went through the same steps as you until I ended up with the KME, I still use the sharpmaker for touch ups. How did you modify the KME to hold the aligner stones? I had to make some shim/plates to go under the thinner Arkansas stones so I could hold the same angle, I'm curious how you did yours. Would you mind sharing a picture? Or at least describe what you did?
I found the KME to be the best option, a lot of bang for the buck. Thanks a lot.
