It's really nice and is a perfect pocket carrier. Tight and sharp. I'm lugging it around now at the office.

A couple of things on the negative side...one or two of the rivet heads are sharp. Probably that many rivets is overkill on such a small knife however I know Buck is mimicking the 110. Also, when folded, the back of the blade is a bit "pointy" for the pocket.

I've got a 503 ordered which is basically the same knife only with two rivets that could be more recessed. I'll be comparing the two as pocket carriers.

The 055 is a beauty and I would receommend it to anyone as a great pocket knife.

Have you considered getting a leather pocket pouch for your new 55? I think I read here somewhere that there are pouches that fit the 55. You may want to do a search. A pouch would make the 55 more pocket friendly.

Mike, I got this knife specifically for the pocket because I get tired of pouches on my belt.

I believe he meant a leather pocket pouch. Knife still rides in the pocket but the leather slip pouch makes it more comfortable.

Now I get it. No I hadn't considered that but I will now. It's really a great little knife!

:D ...Okay...This will make me sound like a "cheapo-frugalmeister"...I tend to rotate what I carry depending on where I'm going, doing and what I'm gonna wear. As you already know, that 55 is one great "carry" knife. I didn't want to damage it with keys, coins, etc...soooo...I know my wife has about 15 or 20 THOUSAND  purses and hand-bags and shoes of all colors, types of leather and various degrees of "she hasn't even looked at some of these things in years"...I found, among her hidden cache, a beautiful soft leather handbag that I cut out a piece of leather to fit my 55 beautifully, I took it to my neighbor, a 32 year old single lady, who sewed it together and made it look like I bought it from a leather shop. She used some kind of thread that is so tough and strong, I can't break it, wrapped around two sticks, to save my soul. Lotsa ways to carry that 55 and enjoy it. Look see what yer wife has...and check out yer neighbors... :D

from your description be careful not to get caught checking out your neighbor too closely....

 ...LOL...Mr. Buck...I am most trustworthy and loyal to my wife...cough, cough, gag...and my daughter (13 yrs old) watches me like a hawk to boot...LOL...:D :D ...but I carry that 55 around without any scratches or nicks...:D

P.S. I woulda put it together myself but I'm a better "brain-surgeon" than I am a "seamstress"...LOL...

One side of the rocker pin was sharp on mine. I buffed it down enough to get rid of the sharpness. I held it against the buffing wheel so the oin just barely pushed into the wheel but the handle didn't touch.

My 2 complaints:

1. I wish the blade was finished the same as a 110, with smooth brushing, not the deep grind lines. I fixed that with some buffing too.

2. The curved bolster/wood boundary is neat, but I would rather have straight lines like the 110.

BUT, that doesn't mean it's not a beautiful little knife. The tiny clip point blade is just so darn cute.

I took out the grind lines on mine with a piece of 1500 grit wet-dry mounted on a piece of 1/8 inch foam with stickum on both sides. I stuck this to a popsickle stick and worked out the lines. It was slow but it worked without marring the transition line. I also do love that knife.
