Over the past year I have looked at and purchased several pocket knives. I wanted a knife that had a blade of 3" or smaller and a very lightweight. I've spent several hundred dollars and have been un-happy with my purchases. I just got my $17.50 Spyderco Lady Bug. It's exactly what I'm looking for. It's a knife that you can carry and never know that it's in your pocket. I wish that I would have found this knife sooner! I love tanto blades. I just wish they made a small scale version in the LUM Tanto.

I've always loved and wanted a Ladybug myself, and I'm sure that it would be a much more useful cutter than my current keychain knife, a Kiss tanto. Trouble is, the blade configuration on the 'bug is simply not good enough for me. Partial serrations are iffy at best on a 3-4" blade, let alone a tiny one like the LB. There is barely enough plain edge to be useful, and the short serrated section seems like it would actually be a more of hindrance to cutting ability (i.e. hanging up in material.) Just my 0.02, but if there was a plain Ladybug I would probably own four. Still might allow myself to get one in a moment of weakness though.

"For the price you can't go wrong!"

The ladybug is a very effective and formidable cutting.I work in shipbuilding and have to deal with tape and plastic and nylon tiewraps and my buck folder couldn't cut the mustard for these tasks of opening tape and plastic secured materials. The lady bug is a solid performer and should not be underestimated for it use as an effective tool for everyday use. As for use for self defense, I feel that it is a bit small but nonetheless feel it could get you out of a jam if the need arises. Don't deny youselves a great knife because of the ladybugs size, it's a David among the Goliaths of knives out on the market today. Thanks Spyderco for a great product and keep up your fine work for those who enjoy your products!

I've had several. Great knife, light weight.
Wish for a straight edge option also. Might
be allowed in areas where weapons (Serrated Edges )are not.

From what you all are saying, the decision for me to buy a Lady Bug just got alot easier! Which do you all like better, the I or II?

I've carried a I on my house keys for years & just added a II to my car keys last Fall. IMO, for the price get both.

I agree the Ladybug certainly is a serious piece of equipment for it's size, but it seemed to take a lot longer to get used to than any other Spydie I've had. Now I'd never leave home without one !

I think that I will purchase the new Wegner Mouse next. The price is a little high, but it looks like an interesting little knife.
