Yep, I just enrolled in the local handgun-shooting club here.. went to the first class this weekend.. of course it's just air-gun's now.. I will be learning all about handling the gun and shooting until the end of the year... then it's time for the theoretical course (regarding real guns) in the form of a study circle.. about 30 hrs, and then the big test... and then.. I will get a license ... for a .22 caliber handgun... :)

After training with the .22 caliber gun for a year, participating in competitons and club events, further education etc, there is a chance I can apply for a licence for a bigger caliber.

I'm in Sweden btw.. :)

So far it's been fun (the first class!) and I did pretty good... hope it will be stay fun.. I kind of have a bad habit of dropping out from stuff... (I'm all excited at first and then lose my motivation too quickly...)

On the count of three this thread will disappear and then reapper in Gadgets & Gear. Oooh, I made a rhyme!!! :D

1......2......3.......Bam!

Congrats, btw! Shooting is one of the few sports I enjoy next to hockey.

Welcome to the shooting world. I think you'll find that it's not only fun, but therapeutic as well. Enjoy!

Good on you! Sorry you have to jump through so many hoops in Sweden. :grumpy:
I had me a good weekend of shooting... put about 150 rounds through two of my Colt .45's on Saturday, then shot 200 rounds of 12 ga. in skeet yesterday. I love the smell of spent gunpowder!

heres a small video of a get-togeather at my gun club last july.

some of my most accurite rifles come from sweden, have you ever herd of the swedish mausers, are they still rather common place over there like the m1 garands are here? whats the most common military surplus guns that you can buy there?

ive got a m38 carbine with a glass bedded reciever on a laminated stock with a fully free floating barrel and a armstrong peep sight, at 100 yards its a tack driver.

Haha great video clip! :D
Yes I know of the mauser, but I have no info on the availability on other guns... I'm not ever sure that you can buy old military surplus guns... I think they keep them in the military.. :) When I did my service, I was using a k-pist 45b:

I guess I like shooting because it's a "calm" sport, no running or jumping, just concentration.. and yet stuff happens even though all I do is moving my finger.. :)

Its too bad firearms are so highly regulated in your country. Shooting is a very enjoyable sport and if you stick with it you might find its a lot of fun.
