Ivory Ban Lifted

Hi Ron, welcome to BFC. I've been wondering about when this would happen. I was reading some info about six months ago, that there were over 500,000 Elephants, just in the southern areas of Africa. Figured it was political BS. Looks like they wised up.:D ;)
Thanks for the information.

Yeah, believe it or not, the US actually supported the change, making environmentalists in other countries get a little pissy. :D I'm sure glad this happened, and I hope when the seemingly huge but definately finite amount of stockpiled ivory is sold off poaching doesn't become a problem again.

I think we'll have to watch the prices for a while too, given the hunger craftsfolk have for ivory after all these years the price is likely to be sky high, until the fever dies down a bit. If the Africans are smart they'll ration sales and keep the price high. I hope they're not too smart. :)

Maybe India will take the hint and loosen the ban on exporting stag too... Yeah, I'm a dreamer all right.

Dave

Yeah, well, if we all got together, raised about $1,000,000, and sent someone to Kenya, we'd be able to get some (after several years of red tape).
