Hey Guys,

I just wanted to show you a pic of the bowie that I made for the PKA show in Denver. The 13" blade was forged from 1080 and received an edge quench. I have been getting a really wavy quench line with the 1080 but it is not really visiable in the pic. The handle is pre-ban walrus ivory. The fittings were of mild steel that had been nitre-blued. The guard and butcap were coin edged file worked and then had a groove filed all the way around them. The spacer was complettly checkered. The neatest thing of all about the bowie, for me anyway, was that it won Best Bowie of the Show.

Craig, you have to get a better photo hosting site. That picture is way too small. I want to get a good look at that stunning Bowie. If you have a larger picture that you would like to email it to me, I would be glad to put it up on this thread for you. I am sure everyone else would like to get a better look as well.

Craig, since I saw the intended first guard for this knife, let me tell you that mistakes happen for a reason sometimes. This is one of those reasons. This knife turned out awesome!

That's just freakin' awesome! 13"? Yowza! Great stuff Craig - love the detail work on the fittings.

Cheers,

Roger

Congratulations, Craig. I really like the fittings on that knife. I guess the judges did too. :)

Thanks for the great comments everyone!

Danbo was at my place when I was working on a cast sterling silver S shaped guard for this blade. However the casting did not turn out so I decided to take this route with the blade.

Berettaman12000, I do not currently have a webpage. I can e-mail photos of my work to you if you would like me to. I also have a couple of fixed blades on the knife exchange if you wanted some other examples of my work.

Thanks,

Craig

Great job--impressive blade. If you need a website made maybe we could work on some trade in the future.

Awesome walrus ivory handled bowie, Craig!:D If my limited math skills prove me correct, I'm looking at a bowie over 18" in total length? Any pix of the sheath that complements your masterpiece? Congratulations on the Best Bowie of the Show!:)

The overall length on the knife was right at 18 1/2", the balance point was just in front of the gaurd. I don't have a pic of the sheath but it was tooled leather with a frog stud.

kcardwel, e-mail me at craiggpf@dtnspeed.net if you want to talk about making some type of trade, I am needing a website.:D

I had the opportunity to fondle that beautiful Bowie at the show along with Craig’s other handsome knives.

A first class Knifemaker and a nice guy to boot.
