The older style yellowed micarta is "in" right now, but I've got a customer that hates it. He wants an ivory colored synthetic that won't yellow over time. What options are out there? Are the newer micartas susceptible to yellowing like the older stuff?

I have a piece of "alternate" ivory Ive had it for almost 20 years and it is still original color, very nice too, you can scrimshaw on it. I think I got it from masecraft

I have used ivory paper micarta and it's held up so far. If you don't buff it then it stays more off white. If you buff it then it turns a little more ivory colored.

I ordered some bleached linen micarta last week. If you want I will post some pics when it arrives. It might be too white looking though.

There is also an artificial ivory material at Jephco that comes in two shades. There is an "aged" version which is a bit yellowed and darker and a lighter cleaner "young" version.

Product description:

Artificial Ivory was originally manufactured as a product used in the manufacture of medical grade artificial bone and joint parts. This truly is artificial ivory! Our artificial ivory can be worked like any other acrylic handle material and buffed to a perfect ivory color and feel.

Colors: Young Ivory (creamy white) and Aged Ivory (aged to an off-white/buttery light yellow)

Masecraft has an imitation ivory that looks amazingly like the real thing-grain and all.
It is a plastic and is rather fragile, though.

I recently made some micarta using white catdstockand fiber glass resin. The resin has a amber color to it, so consequently the final product has a slight aged yellowed look, will this deepen? And would using an epoxy like acra glass or west's be and stay clear?
