Here is the hollow grind knife I did awhile back with the paper micarta scales. 3" D2 blade, 4" handle, brass pins and lanyard hole. I used toothpaste on an old toothbrush to clean up the scales. Worked great. Thanks for looking

It turned out great Scott!

So how do you feel about the micarta now that you're all done with it?

That one just begs to be used. :D Kind of like me at a sorority house party ;)

Thanks Nick. That stuff is a pain in the butt to get looking right. I like the way it looks but as a user I'm curious if it will pick up anything that touches it. Like say as a hunting knife, will it absorb blood and get a red tint? I'll be bringing it to the Blade show so you'll be able to see it in person.

Nice job, I love white micarta, marks and all, gives it a rustic , almost natural material look. Never understood some makers not using it cause they couldn't make it look like ivory. I do understand why, from personal experience, and info relayed to me, it is not too much fun to try and scrim.

When I see Stan again I will convey your greetings. Keep up the good work. Hey did he send you some pictures you could scan and post ? I for one would love to see them if he did. fuzzy.

Looks good. My experiance with white or off white mycarta is that if it gets the least little scratch, then gets diry the the scratch will stick out like a sore thumb.

Nice knife Scott, you got the Micarta clean as a whistle. I've never seen it on a working knife so it'll be interesting to find out how it does. I imagine that soap and water would clean any stains off it pretty well since paper Micarta doesn't absorb the way linen or canvas fibers can. Keep us posted. I sure wish I was going to Blade!

Thanks guys I really like the look of it. I don't think it's practical for a using knife but it may look pretty cool with marks that will add character. Dave I found toothpaste worked great as a cleaning agent on this handle. fuzzy, Stan had sent me a pic of an African exotic he got but I have since deleted it. That was about 5 months ago. He said the knife worked great and the guides were asking to use it. Tell him if he needs it sharpened and cleaned up I'll fix him up.
