  • Today marks the 24th anniversary of 9/11. I pray that this nation does not forget the loss of lives from this horrible event. Yesterday conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was murdered, and I worry about what is to come. Please love one another and your family in these trying times - Spark

Ivory real or fake?

Look for Schreger lines. Also ivory and bone show bright white under uv light.

Sorry navman I have to "disagree and make it more complicated,"
Fake ivory has also Schreger lines and UV light is rarely available at flea markets or other shopping locations....burn a tiny spot with a lighter if its permitted, if not....
....leave it, it probably has no cites anyways....or appreciate the risk of a nice white plastic handle👺

TH, you right. I have some faux ivory and it does have schreger lines, but they seem to look "fake" compared to natural ivory. I have a small UV light on my keychain...oddly enough. It wasn't bought for this reason...but it works all the same. Got it as part of a UV epoxy kit...the epoxy was trash, but light is cool.

I’ve always heated up a pin or needle and upon touching an indiscriminate part of the piece it will smell like burnt plastic….which it is.

I hear ya on the UV glue….it worked a couple times….maybe.
