IWB Carry Methods

I've read numerous threads on the benefits of IWB carry for fixed and folder knives. Quite honestly, no matter what I carry I just can't get comfortable with it. Right now the only knives I can remotely adjust to is the LaGriffe with a Mercop tether harness or the small version of the CRKT Crawford Kasper FF.

Can anyone offer any suggestions for IWB carry methods? I'd like to free up my
pockets for other stuff, thanks.

I noticed that when I suddested and showed the IWB carry to people, many tended to try to carry their knives vertically.

Put the knife at an angle, ideally in/along a natural crease in your body (makes movement easier, like bending). This has been most comfortable for me.

Or put it exactly slightly after 3 o'clock (12 being your belt buckle). It's a place that is not exactly at the side but will not hinder bending .. I personally carry at 2 o'clock, slanted and 3.5 o'clock vertical. Same size, both IWB.

I only carry folders IWB because I can't stand large objects in my pockets. Mine rides to the right of my belt buckle, midway between buckle and my right hip...what is that? Appendix area?

I used to sometimes feel a little discomfort when bending down to do something, when carrying my BM 975, which is a large folder. For the past year, I've been carrying a BM mini-Skirmish and I don;t even know it's there.

Tip down for me ((( :D )))

IMHO you can't get much more comfortable or faster. As mentioned just lay it across your waistband.

I used to carry a modified Western bowie in an Inside the waistband sheath and it was very comfortable even with its size. I generaly carried it right above the right rear pocket. Now I sometimes carry my T3 in the same spot.

The most comfortable for me is at 11 o'clock (12 being your belt buckle) on a diagonal under the trouser/pants with the clip covered by my belt.
If you have a bit of a stomach, the knife will sit under it comfortablely.
The natural fold of my shirt covers the top of the knife, so the knife is almost invisible.

A standard wanding checks for pistols at the 4 o'clock (if the guy is bright 8 o'clock), so it misses it. Most guards will not wand a guys front.

I only use IWB when I feel I am in an "awkward" situation.
11 o'clock gives me both a strong hand and weak hand access
Strong hand is in front of me for protection, and allows me an opening blow when pulling the knife, even if the knife is not open.
The weak side also has full reach to the knife.
(I don't like 4 o'clock as I feel exposed pulling my hand back)

I like smaller folders at 5 o'clock (12 being belt buckle) andy My Military at 3.5 o'clock...both vertical.

The most comfortable position for my 710 & Civilian is at 4:15-ish, my love handles completely forget they're there.

Check out On Scene tactical. Eric really knows his IWB clips etc and can hook you up a great one for almost any knife.

I have found the duluth trading trucker suspenders great for keeping my pants up when I have heavy gear on my belt and no butt.
