I here a lot of talk about carrying inside waistband. Is this done with folders just clipped to the pants? Doesn't the knife irritate the skin from rubbing it? Shirt tucked in or out? I know this is a dumb question sorry. I did do a search on IWB and didn't really see what I was looking for. Any insight I can get would be appreciated.

It doesn't irritate my skin, as my knife is against my shirt. I have it clipped to my jeans, so the clip is against a belt loop. It IS comfy for me too. It isn't a dumb question.

1) Yes.
2) No, it's pretty comfy. I've carried up to my mini manix this way.
3) In or out. If it's tucked, then you probably want a little more discret knife.

The key is to have it sit with your hipline? so that it doesn't rub up against your legs.

I carry mine clipped to my pants, with the clip under the belt and the knife between my shirt and pants. I just angle it a bit so it's almost parrallel with my belt. Helps to cover the clip and it won't poke me in the leg or gut. I've carried small to big knives this way and it does take getting used to. But now, when there's not a knife there, I feel like it should be. I miss it being there.

Right now there's a Kershaw Mini Cyclone (zdp/ti) there. I think it's the most comfortable of all.

BTW: I want a SBEII weeeelee weeeelee bad! My next gun purchase. :-)

I carried IWB for a couple of years. I never had any problem with it comfort-wise and I really liked the fact that this method allowed me to carry without alerting the public. The problem is that carrying this way will eventually wear out a hole in the back of your pants.

I carry an Emerson Lagriffe IWB right behind a pager.

I carry fixed and folders iwb. for me the knife rides behind my hip and extends backwards on a slight angle along my but check. it takes awhile but you will get used to it and it is not uncomfortable. You will always know it is there but for me thats is a good thing. I have lost alot of nice folders from a pocket and did not know they where gone until it was to late. For fixed a sheath with a stud is best and some designs use a static cord which works well. For a folder you need a knife with a clip. It is always more comfortable if you have a tucked in shirt but not to bad untucked as long as you have underwear on. Only bad part about this carry in hot days you will sweat up and you have to take care of your knife alot more or it will tarnish and rust. All in all this a great way to carry very discreet and secure and my favorite way to carry fixed blades (which i prefer) and large folders. Good luck and give it some time and you will like it

I carry my ZT 0300 (pretty large folder) IWB and I like it a lot, saves a lot of space and is comfortable. The key is to carry on the side, not above the pocket.

I carry a BM 710, Military, Starmate... pretty much any < 4" folder comfortably IWB (usually right behind the belt buckle, at a jaunty angle.) Lately I find regular pocket carry to be too much of an encumbrance (I know, but a man has to fish out his key, flash drive, et al...)

IWB carry is very comfy but use a knife with a clip is like to walk with a stone in the shoe.

When I use to work as a Jeweler, I would always have my MOD CQD Mark II in my waist band. It was comfortable enough to carry IWB even though I was wearing a suit. When I have to be a bit more discrete, I will carry IWB. I rather carry cliped to the front pocket though.
