IWB Holster, Ruger LCP

Hey everyone,

I've decided to get my concealed carry permit and I believe the Ruger LCP is the right gun for me. I've looked at a few S&W compact revolvers and I really need the slimness of the Ruger to pull concealed carry off with my clothing.

I'm thinking IWB, strong side. However, I will also probably pick up a pocket holster as well for versatility. Come winter, it might make more sense in some situations since coats can become very cumbersome.

I'm a slim athletic guy who wears slim "trendy" clothing. I don't want to add bulk with an IWB holster. Any suggestions? I've found many, but no real consensus on what people actually think of the holsters they are using.

Thanks.

i like use don hume for my lcp.

i have one with a clip and one with snaps for a belt.

I bought a KelTec 3AT before the LCP hit the market. In hindsite I think I lucked out. I'd have been tempted by the LCP's better looks and probably spent the extra coin. In doing so I'd have missed out on the VERY handy pocket clip that can be mounted to the KelTec. To the untrained masses it just looks like a tactical folder riding in my front pocket. No holster needed. Just something to consider prior to buying an LCP. I won't argue that the Ruger looks better, but I've got other pretty guns to look at. My K-T is for 24/7 EDC carry, and possibly saving my neck someday. Reliable and handy is its own kind of beauty IMO. ;)

i would go with a pocket clip or holster vs IWB, imho if ya are gonna go IWB go just a bit bigger and get a kahr PM9 or a S&W "J" airweight,

Pocket carry is the only way to carry an LCP as far as I'm concerned. I can carry it while wearing shorts or dress pants with no problem.

Although I don't have one, I have seen wallet holsters for the LCP. You carry it in your back pocket with the gun toward you and it has a thick leather square facing away from you so it looks like a wallet.

After spending a lot of money on IWB holsters, I've decided I really don't care for it. YMMV.

It's been stated by notoS&W, but it's worth saying again- Crossbreed holsters are the best. I carry an LCP every single day, sometimes with dress slacks, sometimes with jeans, sometimes with gym shorts, and my CrossBreed just seems to get more and more comfortable the more I use it. There customer service is top notch. Go for it. If you get one and don't like it, send it back to them and they'll refund your money.

I've been playing dess-up with my LCP....

In Florida's climate I use a pocket holster, either a Sam Andrew's pocket holster if wearing cargo pockets with extra layer of pleating, or left handed wallet holster worn in right front pocket to break up outline for my 3AT.... the reversed wallet holster is slower as you have to get your hand between the grip and leather as there is no cut away for the grip (it is quicker for me to pull the entire holster and then retreive the pistol.. time runs about 2 1/2 seconds for a 1shot draw on an 8 inch plate, 10yards)

Fore reference, I'm 5'9" and 150lbs, with a 30" waist. I don't exactly wear skinny jeans, but I try to look good and avoid the typical "tubby frumpy white guy CCW Hawaiian shirt look". I usually carry a G26 or G19 IWB in kydex right at 9:00 (lefty), which conceals well on me with most attire.

I was looking for holster options for my LCP and picked up the widely-recommended Desantis Nemesis for pocket carry. It works well for most pants, but the snugger the pants the more awkward the draw, and IMHO it starts to print. I have just started trying the pocket clip in combination with Raven Concealment Systems' Vanguard trigger cover. It wears well IWB or, given the right pants, clipped in the front pocket like a folding knife.

I'd recc pocket carry... it's definately small enough. I have a Sig P238 (which I liked much more than the Ruger, but that's another thread for another day...) in a Robert Mika pocket holster. A winning combination in my book.

I've been wearing a Fist IWB holster for the last 5 years and love it.
Very thin kydex is almost like having the gun by itself. Stays open for one hand re-holstering, and can hang upside down without dropping my Glock.
I used to have a Uncle Mike's soft IWB but my gun kept falling out while rolling on a mat. Had it been a street fight gone to the ground and gun it fell out, I could have lost my life.

Try the "High Noon Bare Assist" I have had mine for my LCP for over a year it works great and sits low you forget it is even there.
