*Sigh* I think I'm going to spend about as much on holsters as I did on the da*n gun!

What are some good IWB Holsters? Links, please!

Also: Leather, nylon or kydex, and why?

Do IWB holsters need big belts or can you make do occasionally with a smaller belt?

Lastly, where do you wear it? Does front work? I'm too skinny for hip; it would bulge too much and dig right into my bony-ass hip!

The holstermakers hate me for saying it, but my favorite holster is a generic suede IWB that cost me $4 and a few minutes cutting and sewing to make it fit my gun. I like it because it's so thin. Leather forms to the gun and a steel clip actually holds -- avoid nylon holsters and plastic clips. IWB carry holds the gun in place so you don't need anything else for retention.

If hip carry doesn't work for you try appendix carry (in the crease where your leg joins your body) or SOB (small of back) -- but don't position it in the center of your back over your spine. If you fall on it there you can break your spine. Toward the side of your back with the butt angled sharply forward works.

I prefer kydex holsters because you can reholster with one hand when wearing an IWB holster. I ordered from http://www.comp-tac.com and really like their holsters. For OWB holsters, I like Fobus and Uncle Mike's hard synthetic holsters because they are cheap, lightweight and thin.

Been concealing a handgun professionally for 20 years now, in my opinion, like most other things, you get what you pay for.
I have come to appreciate high end custom makers like Mitch Rosen, Milt Sparks and Lou Alessi. Ideally, The belt should be made for that holster/gun combo since it is important to provide a secure & sturdy platform for the whole system to work.

As for materials, I prefer leather/horsehide/sharkskin.

With a properly made and fitted holster, you can safely conceal a handgun easily and comfortably. It's like the difference between buying a suit off the rack or having one made for you.

After spending a lot of cash on a self defense weapon, don't cheap out on the carry system.

I been carring a HK USP COMPACT 45 (not a small gun) in IWB carry for a while. I wear it in front of my rt hip. I own a lot of holsters, but still keep going back to leather. For the money and turn-around time take a look at www.kramerleather.com I can reholster with one hand with out any problem. Good Luck

The smell!;) Blades I prefer kydex, but on handguns I prefer hi quality leather (personal taste). Like it was said earlier-get a belt made with the holster. It will make a huge difference in everyday carry. Hope that helps.
