IWB sheaths for the TGLB or CGBJ

I'm traveling to Jersey next month on vacation and I can't carry my guns. Instead I'll be packing one of my Busse blades. Right now the two I'm deciding between is the TGLB and the CGBJ.

Now with the CGBJ I already have a mashed cat with tek-lok but it's an OWB. It will still work and I'm leaning towards this setup.

But are there any IWB sheaths that are comfortable when sitting for either blade?

Thanks

Honestly, carrying fixed blades that large IWB is pretty tricky. There's only one way I know of to pull it off comfortably while allowing for quick deployment.

Appendix IWB (roughly 10:30 or 2:30 positioning) with about a 35/40 degree cant to align with the pelvic crease. You could use Spyderco G-Clip, Blade-Tech Rubber IWB Loop, or just a short length of paracord to secure it to your belt.

Otherwise, the old standby is just carrying OWB at roughly 4:30 or 7:30 with the back pocket covering the sheath and cover garment over the knife.

Whatever you decide to carry, be careful. Jersey is terrible when it comes to knife laws. Anything you carry has to be for a "lawful purpose" which opens up alot of gray area.

carrying a TGLB IWB sounds like a hard thing to do. I carry a glock 36 IWB and it's still kinda hard to do when i'm sitting down.

personally if i was intent on concealing a knife, i'd carry it horizontal at the back of my belt with my shirt untucked. Carrying a 7" blade inside my pants would be highly uncomfortable

See if they let me carry my guns this would be a non-issue.

Honestly, Jersey seems like a criminal's paradise!! Self-defense is basically illegal and the sentences for theft/robbery are less than carrying guns!!

Haha yeah they're pretty backwards with that. If you have anything smaller like a game warden or an active duty, it might be a better choice. If memory serves, there's no limit on blade length, but since the law is so open ended, there doesn't really have to be. The less attention you draw, the better.

Out of curiosity, what part of Jersey are you visiting? I lived there until pretty recently.

Well we're staying in Stone Harbor but we're going to cape may to eat at the Lobster House and a day in Wildwood. I'd also like to maybe rent a boat for a few hours but I'm not sure how that'd work with a 2yr old.

As for the blade, if I have to defend myself because their puke laws are a joke and criminals don't care so be it! I know it's a miniscule chance that something is going to happen just as it is every day. But if it does, between myself and the bad guy(s)...at least one of us is going to the morgue!

Thanks

Right on, dude, sounds like you got a good time planned out! I've never been to the Lobster House, but I've heard good things. Sounds like you got the right idea with the blades too :p Good luck and enjoy your vacation!

Thanks, yeah we're are really excited!! I've been carrying the CGBJ in the mashed cat for a few days just to get used to daily carry and concealment. Should do fine.

The TGBL is just too big to conceal and with the SpecOps sheath it just wouldn't work.

Thanks

Actually, you could conceal the TGLB pretty easily with some paracord rigging baldric style. Here's a little how-to by David Brown if you don't know already..... :)

I appreciate that and it looks interesting and doable but not to conceal it. Due to the TGLB's thickness and shaping there's no way I could do that comfortably with the specops sheath and plus this is a vacation. So I don't want to compromise comfort for size. A CGBJ will certainly do the job. I don't need a wilderness blade at all. This is for pure defense.

Thanks again!

Enjoy your trip. Just keep your eyes open and pay attention to your surroundings and you will be fine.

your hanging out in yuppyville vacation spots, not Newark. bj would work but tg is too bulky imho. I suppose wildwood at nights you can always run into some younger trash but Id keep it comfortable and carry a folder with a clip to be practical...especially since you will probably be wearing shorts most of the time. Cabs le or a boss street is the perfect size for me when I carry fixed. Cape May is really beautiful though and im pretty sure they dont even know what crime is in that part of the state. Your 25 mins from AC too if you have to fill some time with fun things to do. Hope you and the family have fun regardless.

I got this Concealment sheath from Rowe's Leather Goods. It has an Allen screw instead of the snap by request, and the belt loop swivels. It's an excellent sheath, and Cody Rowe is a great man to deal with. Can't say it's all that comfortable for a Boss Jack in strongside carry. It may be more comfortable in AIWB carry like aaaa_cccc suggested. You could also put a Blade Tech IWB loop on your Mashedcat. I would probably go with something in the 3.5-5" range for better concealment. I wouldn't want to explain why I am carrying a 6" fixed blade to a New Jersey police officer:D

Yeah, when it comes to weapons they are worse than Nazi's in Jersey!

"Well officer I'm an Eagle Scout and an EMT and have been trained in the proper use of knives and have been carrying them since I was 5 years old. Plus I use them for cutting things, opening things, and this pommel gives me a lot of abilities such as breaking glass for vehicle rescue"...

...and their response will most likely be "We don't care, it's sharp and can hurt someone, turn around and put your hands behind your back.".

N.J. I wouldn't do it.
Think about buying a heavy walking stick type cane. Better "reach" as a nice plus also.

You must be crazy if you want to carry a TG IWB...however, that means my dad is crazy as well because he already does that. :D

Since you already have a Mashed Cat kydex sheath for it, just get a Comp-Tac clip, screw it on to your sheath, and you're ready to go! This setup works great on any knife with appropriate mounting holes (I use it on my Scrapyard 511). The only limit is how big you're willing to go. :p I have a picture if you're curious to see how it works.
