I hope that all of you have reviewed the recent thread concerning popular internet search engine google. They rejected sponsored advertising from www.knifeoutlet.com because they don't like some of the merchandise that knifeoutlet carries. In their responses, or lack thereof, they've revealed a clear anti-knife bias.

Recently, at the suggestion of a fellow forum member, I've been using http://www.ixquick.com for my quick searching. The results have been at least as good as google. In fact, I think they produce fewer off-topic hits and fewer dead links.

But, what do THEY think about knife advertising? Ixquick offers an ad program very similar to google's. So, I asked them and here is what Edo Jansen replied:

If people search for these terms Why not show a good result. Besides that if people want to order they have to decide if it's legal in their region. So to answer your question: Yes we allow ads for knifes, no problem at all.

"No Problem At All." I like that.

So, I'd like to encourage all bladeforums.com members to switch from google to ixquick for all of your quick internet searching needs. Oh, and look for MY sponsored ad on ixquick coming shortly!

I am fairly new to computers, but in searching for various information on the net I found out about Ixquick, it made things so much easier.

I applaud your efforts to help us Knife Nuts continue to find and use Knife friendly sites. :D

Oh, this is too good. They even have a "Quick Search" link button for your browser, which is about the only reason I was still using Google. I've always hated the fact that the first result of any search with Google is the, "Read all about <subject> on Amazon.com!"

Nice search engine, glad to see their response on the knife issue as well. Thanks for the tip.

I hope that all 15,000 of our members will take the time to try ixquick out.
