Hey guys i have a quick question. When you wrap your IZULA, do you put any kind of lubrication on the handle before you put the paracord around the handle? If your knife gets wet do you take the paracord off and wipe it down or is it not necessary? Some suggest wetting the paracord before wrapping the handle for a tighter fit but wont that make the handle rust?

Edit: Supposed to say rust and not "rusr"

Gotten mine soaked a few times and haven't had any rust where the paint is yet or under the paracord. The exposed metal rusted in a couple places but I think the paint is pretty tough.

You could use bee's wax first if you're worried

I just lightly coated mine with oil (forget what type) before wrapping. Car wax might work well also. Even if my Izula was stripped, I wouldn't hesitate to wrap it after some preventative coating.

If you really plan to use it in wet environments you prob should use some kind of wax, gel or oil. Otherwise, especially if the coating is undamaged under the wrap, I wouldn't worry about it.

I wiped my handle down with Tuff Glide, which is like Tuff Cloth,in a lubricant form.

I use bacon grease.

Smells amazing and I can lick it for a few extra calories if I'm stranded.

:D

I just put mineral oil on the Izula logo and Izula name every once in a while - edge has a good patina so no oil and I dont bother with the coated parts.

The parts of the knife that are coated usually are not a problem for any kind of rusting including the handle. The edge of the knife and the etching on the blade are usually where rust will form if not wiped down once in a while with some sort of protectant. I also use Mineral oil with a couple of drops of Clove Oil added. Non-Toxic and seems to work well.

I've had my Izula wet quite a bit and have never had any rust under the paracord or on the blade. Just dry it off when your done and it should be fine.
