I was wondering how this knife does at prolonged use. I'm primarily interested in the micarta scaled version. Does it get uncomfortable after a while or is it alright? Anyone do any in depth whittling with one?

On a side note. The girl from Knifeworks said that Esee was going to start offering these in multiple colors. Anyone know when the colored versions will hit the streets?

To me, prolonged use depends on the handle comfort.
For my large paws, this works fine.

Single paracord layer over micarta. I didn't like the pinky trap hole.
Works well if you don't mind the prison shank look.

I like the izula..........but i think the blade is to thick and has to much belly for any decent whittling

Hey Shotgun,

I got a Izula II a while back and it has quickly become my favourite little knife. Teamed with the Bravo-1 and my Machax, I have all areas covered.

I wouldn't say my hands are especially large, but large gloves are never big enough and I find the Iz-II perfect. Iz-1, definitely not - that extra little bit of length makes a huge difference.

I haven't used it for long periods of wood carving, but the bit that I have done - no problem. Coincidentally, the blade is the same length as my favourite small folder, not that that helps you.

I think it really boils down to - you have to try it yourself. Nobody else can tell you how it will work for you.

I used mine to clear out my camp site a wile back. I had a larger knife, but it was just easier to use the Izula. I have the 2 with the micarta scales, and i didn't have any issues with it during the 1.5 to 2 hrs it took me to get everything cleared out. As mentioned above Its not may favorite for carving, but it is a great little work knife.

as with most of ESEE's knives, the Izula handle is way too small for me. I have two, and use them, but I sure wish they had a bigger handle to hang onto.
