It's my first post here, so first, I should say: "Hi all!"

Recently I've got my first RAT - Izula, which I'm amazed.

I bought Izula as a lightweight hiking/wild camping knife, so I decided not to wrap it with paracord.

Below is a photo of the first grip, made of very thin leather.
The next one I'll do with more thick and waxed leather one and seam will be nicer.

Thanks!

Yes it's stitched through - it's feels more secure - seam inside handle frame will prevent any slippage.

It sure looks great, and was a very original idea, but I don't understand why you wouldn't want to paracord wrap a knife for hiking/camping? I bought my izula for the same reason and that is EXACTLY why I paracord wrapped it. The paracord doesn't weigh much and it could be very useful in an emergency/survival situation.

I'd be very CAREFUL using that type of grip...especially when wet...Maybe someone with more knowledge of knife making will advise you as to the merit and/or dangers of working with a knife gripped like that....

Thanks for sharing.

Your Izula with the leather wrap looks great! It's neat to see some different wraps that people have tried. Congrats on your new Izula!

I like the leather wrap. Good idea. If you used wet leather would it tighten up when it dried?

Well, it looks nice, but it's not very durable or functional as a grip, especially compared to paracord.

Welcome eshu, I am new around here myself. I see your leather work, and it looks good. I'm in the process of putting a similar leather grip on my longbow, which is really testing my patience, or lack there of.

Thats what I'm thinking:confused:
