Was at work today(yeah Saturday it sucked) and since we got some new computers I took as much of the cardboard as I could. I plan on testing a few knives with said cardboard but didn't want all the packing tape(nasty stuff) to bog down the test with all the stickiness and inconvenience. That said I figured I would prep all the boxes by cutting the pieces which had tape all over it with my Izula. So after cutting all the sides with tape on them I decided to go ahead and cut them into little bits. So every cut had that tape on it.
I cut cardboard quite often as well as rope and wood, however this cardboard was no joke. This stuff is thick and tough as hell. About and hour and a half to blast through this stuff. The first pic is one with the thick stuff and a flat rate box just to show how thick this stuff is. I didn't plan this to be a test or a review so I didn't get any before pics but it turned into a fun day with the ESEE.
So how did she fair? I would say extremely well based on my limited experience. This knife is a pretty nice cutter especially when you consider its a very tough outdoor knife. The knife started out barely hair whittling, easily shaving and ended having a tough time with printer paper. This could have been due to the glue which I tried to get off by whittling wood but that didn't help much. 1095 seems to be a nice steel, tough and easy to sharpen.
On to the new found respect part. To all the posters who put in their time, money, and work on their reviews you have my respect and I appreciate that your work as helped me decide on some of my knives. So to Mr. Ankerson, Crimsontider, and everyone else thanks for your time and effort. This is fun though I must admit.
Alright so here's some pics:
Here's the cardboard I'm prepping for future tests on a few different knives. No thats not blood on that 4x4, its just stain from my reloading bench stain lol
Little bit of wood cutting, just to try and clean the blade... didn't work
The knife has cut quite a bit, however nearly all of that wear is do to the cutting made today
Thanks for looking and just want to say I had a bunch of fun doing this and a decent workout too!!
