Izula Clip point

So you like the clip point?

I haven't met many that do.

I have sold a few clip points and even the ones I did sell got returned in exchange for the drop point because they didn't want that version. I guess they didn't notice that it was a clip point they where buying. They are illegal in my state because of the double edge, had one returned recently because of that very reason.

I myself prefer the drop point.

When does a clip-point become a necessity? What are they usually used for that the main blade can't do?

Piercing tasks... usually the reason people go for them is because they are afraid that they might need it for self defense, or maybe hunting.

Personally I think that if forced to the regular drop point would be fine. I'll also add though that anyone who gets themselves into a knife fight is clearly a grade A idiot.

I have a 4 in clip point and I like it a lot, works great fro drilling out holes, and scraping things. This way I can keep the main edge sharper longer, and use the back edge for the messy tasks like scraping.

I like the CP (I have a 3Mil CP). I picked this version for SD-EDC. I'm never looking for a knife fight (just as I'm never looking for a gun fight or any fight, period). Still, better to have and not need...

I've found the CP, along with the slimmer profile of the 3, works nicely in a skinner and striker roles.

I haven't had the CP cause any negative experiences.

(I think a drop point ESEE 4 will become my "field" knife).

I'd like to think that probably 99% of us here hope that never happens. Knives are tools to most of us. Yes it can be used for protection but I don't think a lot of people buy them with the intent on using it for self defense.
I've carried a knife since I was 14, (29 now) and been in my share of scuffles and never once did I even think about using my knife. It never even crossed my mind. The only time it would become an option is obviously in a life or death situation.

I bought a ESEE 4 plain edge clip point recently. I sought it out, because I wanted just that style.
In Florida, there are no prohibitions against double edged knives, and certainly my Randall #1 and #14 are in that category.
I see no downside at all to a sharpened top edge.

Funny thing... Most people are killed by kitchen knives, most of which are probably dull, no backcuts/swedges to be found.

as far as self defense goes remember not all attackers are on two legs. just having a knife on you could make a difference.

I use my CP 3MIL alot even though illegal in Texas,I like the clip point section as a firesteel striker....
