Izula Coating rubbed-off

I got my Izula for while. I really like the knife so much. I wrap the paracord on mine most of the time. But recently, I decided to take out the cord. But interestingly, I found that my Izula coating at the inside of round hold is somewhat rubbed off.

I never use my knife really hard. The coating on other part looks great. I just do not understand why the inside has the problem.

Anyone experience this problem?

Yes!!

Haha, I don't know. That's not something to get stressed over, a little coating wear here and there. If you are really bothered by it, I guarantee the RC team will take care of you.

Usually coating damage isn't covered (their meant to be hard use knives, so ANY coating would come off eventually) if it's severely premature you might try posting some pictures and see what happens. I personally wouldn't worry about it too much. It's just "breaking in." :)

If rust is a concern, just get a $10 gun bluing kit at your local outdoor goods store (heck, Wal*Mart probably has them) and touch up the exposed patches with it. I actually deliberately stripped the coating off of my RC-3 and blued it. I managed to get my hands on an uncoated Izula, and I haven't coated it at all and it hasn't given me any problems with rust. I just wipe it down when it gets wet, and I polish it when it starts to stain, which isn't often.

Is the coating coming off through the whole interior, or just in a couple spots?
It might be where the knife was hung to be coated.

Is there a possibility you got a small ammount of solvent on the area? Gas, rubbing alcohol, nail polish remover and alot of other common chemicals could soften the finish, allowing it to rub off.

That's what I was thinking, some kind of end user associated anomaly.
All my RATs were perfect before I got a hold of them.;)

MRpink, you could signal aircraft with that Izula blade if you needed to.:D

Hmmm, there does seem to be a little coating wear...:D

So thats how they make the Izulas! I have to get me one and start growning my own Izulas.:D

MRPink, I love those sabre Izulas! Yours is gorgeous. I wish the prototype was available.

I think that is it! It is in the area that it is hung. But is it normal? If it is normal, then that's OK.

The rust has not borther me yet. It just that the knife arrive without any use, and the coating just rubbed off so easy with just the paracord rub. I am not complaining on the knife itself. It is a very good knife and I ike it a lot. But this is something that RAT can improve for the future batch. ;)

Hahah, not anymore. Since the day I got it like that, I've used it for everything from fire making to food prep. It's patinaed very nicely with some very cool dark spots. I need to take a more recent picture.

I know this is an old thread but I really want to know what you did to your Izula? That looks different with the straight part above the grind. Did you regrind that one or what?

Nice polished edge!
