Has anyone ever reground an Izula into a convex blade shape? My F1 has a convex and I seem to like the utility much better than a conventional grind and am considering putting a convex on my Izula - what do you think?

Reprofiling it to have a convex *EDGE* is pretty simple, and a perfectly fine thing to do if you like flat ground blades with convex edges. I've done it to mine.

Reshaping the entire blade into a *FULLY CONVEXED BLADE* like your F1 is a whole other story. You would really have to remove a lot of metal to get a blade with a continuous curve from spine to zero point edge. I think that by the time you removed enough metal to achieve that goal, you would have a significantly narrower blade from spine to edge.

edit: If you love the size/shape of the Izula and also love a fully convexed blade you may want to check out the Bark River Bravo 1 Necker. Great little knife!

I just put a convex edge on my izula (sandpaper and mousepad style) and it works jim-dandy-fine. Like BryFry said, though, there's a serious difference between a convex edge and a full convex-ground blade. I honestly wouldn't think a full convex grind on the izula would be that much of an improvement, but if you want to try it out, please let us know how it goes.

+1 on the convex edge. I stripped the coating, forced patina and convexed the edge and It hasn't left my neck since. Extremely easy to sharpen and cuts awesome!

I think BryFry summed it up pretty well. You can easily convex the edge of your Izula but it will not have the geometry advantages of a full convex grind. If you own an F1, you're probably already well aware of those advantages. If it were my Izula, I would probably just leave it as is. If you want a knife in that size will a full convex grind you could always pick up one of these
