Izula Edge Profile

Just wondering if any of you "thinned" or re-profiled your Izula edge. I was impressed with bluntruth4u's quick work of that 3x4 with his Izula and I believe I saw a sharpening video by him where he said he always re-profiled his edges to more acute angles. Also wondering if any of you have re-profiled to a convex grind. I am sticking with the original edge profile, with respect to RAT's original design, so far.

Thanks for replies.

Yeah Blunt did put a convex on his Izula. He has an awesome video series on convexing that is pushing me to convex my Izula as well.

^^^ thank you sir!

Im just getting into this convex thing....and already found a few good sets of instructional videos....but these are a great addition!

All the rats that i will own will have a convex edge,

I just think rats should be convex IMO, not straight from the factory but after i convexed my izula's i love them 2 times more :D

I knocked mine back some with a gatco kit. Now I keep it sharp with the 30 degree side of a sharpmaker.

Bluntruth4u hadent convexed the egde prior to doing that video... It was a month or so after the cutting video he convexed it.

The factory profile is tough and works well (My izula is also convexed tho..)

I know convexed edges are touted for better edge retention due to the beefier amount of metal behind the edge. Other than this, is there any other advantage? Do any of you with convexed edges on your Izula notice any improvement in slicing or push cutting performance?

My OD Green Izula has factory edge but I stropped it with some Green compound and it has a mean/wicked edge on it....but still has the factory settings edge wise just polished up a tad.
