I am in the process of etching the logos on my izula (5 hrs) so far, cleaning and reapplying pcb etch each hour.
This is my first time and i am trying to figure out how it should look when it is done and before i strip.
It started out black powder coat with grey engraving, and doesn't look much different now. I had assumed the grey would go away when i etched
I can tell a little difference in the depth, though not much. Anybody care to share experience with this?

Just clean the etchant solution off and decide if the etchings are deep enough for you or not. If not then reapply.

There's a great thread on the esse forums in the DIY section that covers about everything you'd ever want to know and more about etching Esse blades. I use cold blue (for firearms) on mine to get the etched portion nice and dark. Beechwood Casey is the most commonly found in local retailers and gun shops. However, note they make two common cold blue formulas: perma-blue and super blue. The perma-blue is fine but lighter (more traditional bluing - think common S&W revolvers and mil-standard Colt 1911s. Super blue on the other hand is much darker - so much so that it looks nice and dark black on my Esses. If you want it really dark, go with the super blue. Hope this helps!

Fantastic, thanks so much for the info. I have actually read thru that post, but wasn't sure if i needed to use blue or not.
Do you know if it will still be food safe? Also, can i wait til after or strip, or do i need to do it before?
